If I missed anything please let me know. These differences are ones I found just by combing over the pictures. Keep all ethical "knockoff" discussion out of this thread. This is for educational purposes only. NO DEBATES PLEASE. There are some mild color differences, but those have to be ignored. Many variables with originals (fading, picture lighting, etc) make color matching against repro's inconclusive. Again, the purpose to this is to educate eBayers. There are AWFUL sellers out there who claim these pieces as being real. When on eBay, look at the seller's feedback and other items for sale. Chances are, they've sold many of these already. That will be the best indicator of "original" or "reproduction". You gotta use your head before using this guide. Scourge: Reproduction:::::::::::::.....::::....:::::::::::::::...:..:::.......:::::.....::::::..........:::::::.:.::.::: October 1, 2008 And here's the base image for the comparisons. As a nice treat, the KO will be compared against an original from the same case assortment. The KO is claiming to be exactly what I have to compare against. 1. Discolored Faction Symbol This one sticks out quite a bit. On the original, this sticker is very shiny, glossy, metallic, and reflective. It looks like when they tried to replicate this, the color scheme fell off. What's left is something that resembles ketchup. 2. Box Printing Problems It looks like the side graphics made their way over to the front of the box. As you can see, there's something extra on the side of the KO. 3. Missing Paint Application The figure itself is missing some blue. I think there's a bigger issue here ... 3A. Wait, That's Not Paint ... After noticing the missing "paint" in 3, I'm almost sure that isn't paint at all to begin with. If you notice, the entire area is sealed over. Also, the dark blue doesn't quite fill the entire region. I'm speculating that the entire section on the KO is a new sticker. 4. Harsh Yellow Gradient Much like Cyclonus, Scourge sports a harsh yellow gradient. It doesn't quite fade away like the original and it's also over filled. The yellow spot nearly touches his armpit. 5. Bubble Bobbled There's quite a bit of bubble gap between the weapons and the figure. It wasn't this wide in the original. 6. Blow Hole This one can be hit or miss, but pay attention to the blow hole on Scourge. In the originals, it was visible in the window. This can be an easy adjust for the KO makers, but just a heads up on the proper positioning. To Summarize: I'm sure there are other issues with the figure / box, but until better pictures surface, this should do for now. If ya got anything to add, go nuts! Thanks! - Drew
I think the sticker-thing is just a sign of the KO Scourge being based on a later production unit - check out the Fred's Variation page on him: Variations: Everything Else Decepticon. Might be an issue with the more reddish insignia as well?
