The headcrest can be easily trimmed off. You could always try sculpting on a replacement that you think looks more Barricade-ish. It's tricky working out what non-movie versions of characters sould look like, since frankly, most of the movie versions of characters that do exist don't look a heck of a lot like them anyway. So you've got pretty much free reign to do what you want with them as long as you capture their feel. Have you considered modding an Evac (or the upcoming Springer or Blades) for Blackout? You could probably add some stuff the the cockpit and nose to make him look less slim, get rid of the rescue hook and add some guns, and he'd make a pretty decent looking attack helicopter.
Thought about Blades as Blackout, but still, he's too skinny and not even a glance of him resembles that big bad battlin' Blackout. *shrugs*
It'd be more of an ambitious mod, to be sure, but it'd by no means be impossible to bulk him out so he isn't the skinny thing you see outright. Be a good test for your kitbashing skillz, and good practice for your styrene work.
This Prowl/Barricade will be my second repaint / first kitbash. The first was Animated Cybertron Optimus Prime, repainted in light purple, but, dear god, ended up as abomination, and skipped it the half way, sold it half price to some other guy who intends to re-repaint it.. -_-
Heh, fair play. Maybe for further down the line, when this turns out brilliantly and you've got more confidence. To be honest, I actually cant't think of a suitable non-movie equivalent for Blackout. Although it does occur to me that the main body of Animated Lugnut has a certain similarity, and even has the same setup of the cockpit and chest. How about nabbing one of the Energon Devastator payloader limbs as a base for Bonecrusher? It depends partially on how rigidly you want to stick to the movie alt and bot modes...
Nevermind, I'd skip Movie Bonecrusher, as I already have Classics Devastator/Constructicons fill in my Henkei/Classics Decepticons rank. Prowl/Barricade is for sure. While Blackout & Brawl, might need some more brainstorming. *shrugs* ~__~;
Classics tank Megatron for Brawl? Or a modded Armada Megs (or the Happy Well equivalent which has a forward plate/shield)?
