Maybe at the beginning for certain characters. Drones are likely to return to fill in shelf space. I am sooooo not excited about this line.
I doubt they will make any dramatic changes to the molds for the first movie characters, especially those are non canon. I imagine they may be slightly remolded with new paint schemes and such but nothing to money consuming. I'll skip this line like I did the first movie line, everyone I did get from it were all non canon. If they do happen to bring back the drones I wouldn't mind a few more lens heads and some repaints of the first movies drone jets, wanna make an army of Decepticlone Neo-Seekers.
yeah...i personally dont think they need to change molds of the characters that appeared in the first movie...but i sure hope they give a different paint job or something... and i hope for new molds for the new characters...somethin really good the packaging maybe different but i rarely keep boxes so i wouldnt care too much
If the Legends Prime that got leaked is any indication, they're going to try a few new things with these. In my opinion the new Legends figure was MUCH better than the previous, probably because they had a lot more time to develop these knowing what Prime looked like. I expect that's a strategy most of these movie toys will use, new molds that better represent their appearance in the movie with new and improved transformation schemes. That said if they weren't repainted before and won't be used in this movie (Wreckage, Payload, Landmine, Stockade) then I expect to see them again with new paintjobs.
I would hope that Hasbro will maybe use a little more of their development time on the new characters instead of re-working characters that have already had their time in the sun. I can certainly see them re-releasing certain figures and molds from the first film, possibly with updated paint or slight mold tweeks and corrections to address QC issues from the first run, but I think their time would be better spent in branching out their Movieverse line (and Animated, for that matter) with new characters as opposed to beating a dead horse with multiple versions of primary characters.
So the new movie should mostly focus on new characters instead of featuring the established we-barely-knew-ye cast?
I thought I recalled seeing hints that at least some of the new characters are likely to see reformats. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the original forma are featured at first, and that make a good excuse (not that one would be needed) to re-release original movie characters in their... preformat... moulds. There's always someone who didn't get them first time round for whatever reason.
I'm sure they'll repack a few, not least the "supporting cast" ones, but I recall hearing there may be some tweaks or changes to toys of the main existing characters as well. I reckon we might get a more accurate Prime at least, fingers crossed. The Premium Leader was basically the same as the original one after all, the only significant change was the redone head.
I learned my lesson, i ain't buyin jack this time around till after DVD comes out. Hopefully they will have premium series again
