i heard a while a go that motormaster was planned as an ultra, whch fits considering onslaught and silverbold have been made. but i havent heard anything else since. anyone heard anthing?

Ive never understood why they didnt call him "Motor Master"... But they probably couldnt secure that either...

 

I could see it happening as an ultra, since they've done the other gestalt leaders. But it'd be an interesting mold to see how they approach it, since he's a semi like prime, cept the trailer is part of the transformation. Which would still fit to what they've said before, no detachable base trailers anymore... Well Motormaster doesn't have a 'detachable trailer' so he could still get his.

I gotta say though, with as badass as these ultras look, they could have easily incorporated the peg system similiar to the energon gestalts. Then retool a few molds down the line in deluxe size to be compatible. Massive accurate G1 gestalts. Though I guess it's still possible if they made new mold deluxe's that can snap on to the ultras for limbs. But that makes the deluxe's less likely for multiple retools. Unless they do a liozak ultra, then landcross main body ultra(the autobot car gestalt), then they could repaint them a bit easier as limbs for others. I just find it a shame these beautiful G1 combi leaders, can't combi. And much of that has to do with the fact they aren't apt to be able to repaint them and sell them again easily. Though I bet they could if they really put their minds to it!

i think loking at the current engineering on the universe figures its well within thier capabilities. they seem to be making the gesault leaders , personally i think it would be a good way to keep gesault fans happy without actually making gesault

 

Actual combiners with the ultras would be awesome.  

 

I think it was around Botcon 2007 when they said it. Sometime last year at the least. As for Motormaster, he'd be cool. He was in a supposed listing of future TF's, but seems to have been canceled. Or he could be the listed Ultra Scourge that we're getting, as we don't actually know anything about that as of yet.

 

The famous seeker exclusive botcon year hasbro panel. Base style trailers aren't cost effective, and won't be included for awhile. Just like there are no plans for 'sold seperately addon armor'. They are unsure of the market for it.
They remedied this in animated by including prowl with his side car when they release it.

RiD scourge is the same style truck mode almost. So that'd be an interesting dual homage if that's the case, and would make sense as to why the listing changed.
Plus, they do already have the Scourge name still, not sure if they do motormaster.

 

*drools over ultra/deluxe scaled superion, menasor, bruticus, defensor, devastator. they would be awsome. problem is me and my partner live in a smallish one bedroom flat and every wall in my bedroom has at least 2 shelves with TF's on. we are struggling for bedroom space now lol. combiners that size and i might as well buy a sofa bed, and move the other half back to thier mothers lol

 

this makes alot of sense, i suspect then its very likley that ultra scourge may be motormaster/scourge. im excited if it is!

I'd be all over those myself. But at that same panel, they said no classics new mold gestalts. Which I'm hoping they change their minds on as well.

Defensor (Retooled Ultra from Menasor, then a mix of Combaticons, Stunticons, and Aerialbots maybe.)
Liokaiser (Repaint the superion, menasor, and ruination deluxes for him with a retooled ultra, maybe silverbolt, for new gestalt head.)
Landcross (repaint the stunticons for him with a retooled mold ultra)
Classics BuildKing (repaint Devs in RiD Build Team colors, heck even make it a bio like this was him before Megatron made them destroy crystal city.)
Predaking (entirely new mold prefered, but he BETTER be a gestalt and not just a team leader only. I'd almost accept a repaint of magnaboss... Well almost.)
Seacons? (Uh, no clue where the molds for this one could be reused for at all. He's a proverbial deadend cept for repaints of himself. Maybe just stick to the club exclusive for it. xD)
Monstructor (Same as the seacons, though maybe they could make him using a mesh of Predaking and seacon deluxes, with a retooled seacon ultra. These two I really can't think of anything that would work well without being overhauled retools, or new molds.)

Could be done so beautifully and I'd eat them up so fast.
And they could mix and match for enough repaints to warrant it.
Maybe even create some new Gestalts from the mix and match repaints of the remnants that weren't used for others already.

Personally, I'd focus on the repaintables first. Like Devastator and BuildKing, menasor and landcross, Bruticus/Ruination and Defensor, Superion and liokaiser, PredaKing and Maximal Prime/MagnaBoss.
So that way each progressive wave, has it's share of repaints, or carryovers from the previous to help bolster the limbs. And get multiple uses out of the molds, while still keeping the limbs to the vehicles needed.

The only real drawback is it'd make superion near last since his limbs can only really be repeated for Liokaiser, and maybe Bruticus (depends on if they feel another deluxe space shuttle is worth it since astrotrain was already made.)

With Devs/Buildking they could even use two kinds of gestalt mechanics. Use the basic 5 combi limb peg system like energon, but for the two center to make the body the others attach to, use the powerlinx combi method. Then it's G1 accurate, while still using all the new techniques they've mastered for stability.

If I remember correctly, G1 Scourge was taller than the other 2.

 

I'm seriously hoping they start tapping that idea for universe after they run out of G1 mainstays, to mix up the other universe molds a bit instead of just solid beastwars, RiD, Armada, etc at that point.

 

I certainly hope they come out with a Uni. Motormaster, since Ive been waiting for a new mold for him.
