Ramjet, Skywarp, Ultra Magnus, Cliffjumper and (arguably) Soundwave beg to differ. | When I say Original molds, I mean original Classics molds. Like I said, I dont mind Starscream into Skywarp, OP into UM, or Bumblebee into Cliffjumper, and even though Soundwave is TECHNICALY a repaint, ic ount him more as a reissue anyway.
Now, I forgot about Devastator... He was the only(That i can remember) repaint that was a repaint of a line OUTSIDE of Classics.
Now, what I meant about taking spots up that should be new molds, is I mean like, now that they have a repaint Blaster, they're less likely to make a new mold blaster. |

It's a line designed to incorporate all aspects of Transformers over the past 25 years. Robot heros, Legends and even the 25th stuff will all be under the Universe banner. Doing this Hasbro saves money by only having to work with two different lines as opposed to 4-5. And seeing as the original universe was nothing but repaints, and often bad ones at that, the fact that we're getting any new molds, let alone a majority of new molds is a good thing. Quote:

If they had any inclining of wanting to do one, they wouldn't have made him a repaint in the first place. Likewise, I'm not really expecting a new Springer any time soon, though of all the Triple Changers out there, he's one of the few who would actually work better as a deluxe. AT and Octane would have been so much cooler as Voyagers =(
Anyway, I like repaints, especially when they improve on a mold's color scheme. Case in point, Blades and Dropshot. Two molds I repeatedly passed on due to not liking the paint jobs of the original versions, yet after getting the Uni verserions I absolutely love the molds.

These fan “classics” repaint seem to be well received if done properly. I remember when Classics 1.0 came out there were many customizers who repainted figures from other lines and called it “classics whatever”. Now, I do understand fans have been repainted newer line figures with G1 color schemes even before the Classics line came out but people have been referring their G1 repaints as Classics now. Perhaps Hasbro thought there is a market for these G1 colored repaints due to, in part, the customs out there. |

But there are a ton of potential in molds they haven't used yet that's rather surprising that yup, could work great. All they need are new heads and a better paint app. Over the years they have snuck in a few awesome G1 homages in lines. Even the Voyager Cybby starscream mold I understand due to it's closeness to WWI seekers. But like the use with springer is kinda lame. Some characters are just too inconsequential or lacking in appearances enough to warrant a full new mold. Whereas others need one.
Like inferno makes sense as a new mold since he had a few major appearances in comic and toon, and can be repainted as grapple. But someone like whirl, or blades, or roadbuster (until they make IDW Hardhead at least) can be just shrugged off and who would really notice but an extreme fan. Blaster and Soundwave though both need a new mold as well, as does springer. At least you can find a kit for blaster on ebay that fits pretty well with classics once painted. So that's been tiding me over.
If they really were taking this from the fans cues, I wish they'd let us vote on it on their site. So we can get the ones we want, and not these random filler ones.
Rumble/Frenzy Coby rambles. Overhaul into brawn retool, Downshift's head on Sunstreaker, and more. |

(Blaster, Springer). Otherwise, I like repaints when they:
fit a character/name quite well (Blades)
Have the repaint/remold planned in from the start (Starscream/Ramjet, Sunstreaker/Sideswipe, Prowl/Silverstreak)
Repaints that just look good period. (Nemesis Prime) How the Animated toy line REALLY came to an end |

| I think that's a great idea actually. I’d like to see Cybertron Metroplex painted with G1 Fort Max colors with a new G1-ish Fort Max head as an example. |
