TFs in the garage?

We'll be cleaning out the garage soon and offloading a bunch of garbage in a yard sale. I've already begun some minor modifications to turn the garage into a mancave (old sofas, mounting a ceiling fan, moving our TV/entertainment center in when we get a wall-mounted flat-screen in the living room).

My question is, with me living in Florida, the garage gets pretty hot. Can the heat in a mid-Florida garage climb to TF-damaging levels? It's not something I really want to test.

I'd like to display them all out there, because I can lock it off from my kids when I'm not home, but I don't want to ruin any of them (let alone the TV ).

Thoughts?

Since you are gonna hang in there a lot, couldn't you install a "thru the wall" A/C unit?

I've thought about it, but I'm not sure I want to tackle that kind of project...as it would entail me having to cut a hole through the side of my house. That's just a little scary.

The humidity can affect the boxes, not sure about heat itself.

heat + stickers = bad

I've had carded figures get warped before in heat liek star wars figures and such, just depends if you are worried about MIP stuff.

Nah, I don't do MIB (toys are meant to be played with, dammit!!), but the comment about the stickers is making me think twice.

Won't the heat get to be somewhat uncomfortable for people to be in the garage? I live in FL myself, and my garage gets a little toasty, especially during the summer months (which is about 10 months in FL). Without any AC, I don't see how you or anyone else will be able to tolerate the heat and humidity.

if ya don't wanna cut a hole in the wall yourself hire someone to do it, make sure you invest in an energy star A/C though since it'll save ya some cash on electricity.

I'm also in FL, it gets hot down here, a simple ceiling fan ain't gonna keep ya cool. I suggest you DO go for a wall mounted A/C unit and maybe an exhaust fan or 2 as garages aren't ventilated usually.

My area can be really hot in Summer (95F+, not humid, thank Buddha) and I can't imagine spending long time in the garage, though the idea of mancave is really appealing and I'm envious

How about those softer bits some TFs have? Like U Skywarp's crests. I wonder if they are weaker to the heat.

Personally, I wouldn't put it in the garage if the temps get that high.

Stickers will fall off... I'd be worried about the clear and white plastics turning off-colored.
