They're testing to make sure that the toy (Sunstreaker in this case) breaks in a way as to not cause large/sharp/jagged pieces that could then go on to harm a child. They're not proof of indestructibleness. And return policies are there to replace products that may be proven to be faulty through normal use. The lego set example above is exactly this. While putting the set together (Normal use) a piece broke, and it was returned. Knocking a toy onto the floor, whether intentional or by accident is not normal use. It's like saying if I threw my Sunstreaker against a wall or bashed it with a hammer I should be allowed to return it as defective.
Oops! I misread the first post. I thought the whole roof had shattered from the small fall. The toy could easily have just been glued back together without the need to return it.

my roof shattered, and no way I could glue it back together without having large visible cracks all through it. garbage now.

I'll keep the gun for Sideswipe, so he'll be able to have a missle launcher and a gun at the same time.

You shouldn't feel guilty at all.

God, I don't understand why these threads turn in to these big giant ethical crap fests. Why do you guys always try to impose you belief systems on other people its a waste of time. Your moral code only applies to you dont try to make somebody else feel bad about it.

I've had toys take 7 foot falls of book cases and survive with no issues. However, I have had toys break in my hand while transforming them. Most recently one of the tabs in my animated voyager megs broke of.

If the guy is unhappy that his toy broke after falling a couple of feet then he has a right to return it. Transformers are made for kids. Kids drop things, If a toy is too fragile to handle a counter height drop then it shouldn't be marketed to that age group.

Those of you saying that his returning a toy is going to raise prices or causes wal-mart to lose money are just plain silly and don't know enough about the retail business. Stores anticipate these find of things and they are part of there financial planners. They know there gonna return some many of a given item regardless of the reason.

Wow, I just read through the whole thread and it went from "I found a perfect toy, it broke, and I exchanged it for a sub-par toy" to "Your lying to Wal*Mart, you broke it and retuned it, your stealing, blahdy, blahdy, blah..." in no time flat. How it it stealing if you returned a toy that you accidently broke for another toy that's the same price? It's not like you gave them another toy and got your money back, you exchanged the figure for another of equal price and they kept the money. I did the same before when I was loosening the joints on a figure and the arm peg ripped off. I went and exchanged it for the same figure. Is that stealing?

Yes. How could it not be?
