And to be perfectly honest, I really don't even care. This thread got so ridiculous so fast it's hard not to jump in with the crazy.
No the point is the question was never asked. The point of this thread was about finding a toy, having to return it and the paint not being as good on the replacement. He never asked if returning it was ok, people just started calling him a theif and then the thread went to shit

You know you could also say we wouldnt be having this argument if some other peoples parents trained them not to attack others for believing something different from them. I'm mean seriously guys, if the kid didnt have a problem with it and the store didnt why should you?
I accept that you have a different belief than I do. So long as you can accept that beliefs can be wrong.

So lets say my mom is in my home sleeping when i cigarette falls out of her hands and burns the whole house down. Now I'm covered for fire damage with my home insurance plan and they want to give me a check equalling all new home and processions. I'm not going to say to my insurance no thanks it wasn't you're fault it was my moms, I'll suck it up since i feel bad about that the insurance company would be losing money and it wasn't their fault my house burnt down, it was my mothers. Would i be doing the morally right thing?

You guys can play all high mighty but lets face it when the tables are turned, if they could get any chance of weaseling out of paying you on some technicality they'd do exactly that. For those not living in America you don't know what a nightmare Health insurance is and even if you have it they try in all hell not to cover your medical expenses. A close friend of mine's family had to fight viciously to send a suicidal sister into some program, health insurance wouldn't cover it but later had to pony the money by order of a judge.

We pay the high cost of these insurance policy hoping that nothing will happen but by chance they do we'd be covered.

No sorry i don't care about the insurance company losing money since they obviously still make insane amounts with all their accounts.

And again if you reread the WHOLE thread, we can assume that his brother was truthful when returning the toy and since he still had the receipt, the decision was up to the Employee. These are hard times, Smart mother for being fiscally responsible and before forking more money decided to take a stab at exchanging it. looks like she made the right one and saved herself 10 bucks.

Could you calm down and type that again? You seem to have got so worked up, you've left words out that pretty much rob some sentences of meaning. I don't want to comment until I'm sure of what you're saying.

<snip rest of nonsense>
Only one problem with your scenario there, big boy. If the insurance company finds out your mom burned down the house with a cigarette, they more than likely will refuse to cover the loss. Bad example, bucko.

I mean, you can insure your car all you want to, but if you let your drunk cousin take it out to drag race and he totals it, chances are they'll deny the claim. As well they should, because it's your friggin' fault.

Or let's say we're talking about the warranty on my computer. If I open the tower, it voids my warranty, and therefore if I go in there and cause it to stop working, the manufacturer owes me nothing, and I just have to buy another computer.

FAIL.

By the way, Optimus Sledge... how ironic is that we're arguing in that other thread, yet in this thread we're in complete and harmonious agreement? Funny, that.

I don't know why you're trying to turn this into a confrontation. I'm interested in people's opinions. That's why I'm on a discussion forum. I can't comment on your opinion if I'm left wondering what it is. Ok? What I've found tends to happen in those circumstances is that people respond to my comments by saying "That's not what I meant and you know it!" But if you're happy with what you've said, fine. Let's discuss it.

Ok, your fire insurance point. Not sure what point you're making here. Why would it be wrong to claim on your fire insurance for damage caused by fire? Is the cause of the damage you describe specifically mentioned as voiding your policy? If so, then yes, you would be committing a crime in not mentioning it. Can you expand on this?

Your next point: not sure what this has to do with the thread. We're not discussing health insurance. I'm sure they do weasel out of paying. Can't see where this is relevant to theft, unless you're trying some sort of "It's ok to steal from a store because an unrelated company stole from someone I know" point. I hope you're not arguing that.

Finally, we can assume nothing. Occam's razor, dear boy.

Velcro: Yeah, weird, innit? I think it suggests we both may have a point in the other thread, and we're both right here. Or is that too egotistical?

really good point. But I'd disagree that they wouldn't cover me since the accident was my mothers fault. I guess I know very little about home insurance plans though since I've never owned any real estate. Or Any fake estate Lets say they wouldn't cover me if they ever found out is was my moms fault ( really can't believe that but i guess its all in the fine print). Thats when i still drop my morales and take they check and hide that dirty secret to the grave. Lest be down one house and all belongings and to tell me you wouldn't do the same would be moronic. Screw the insurance company losing, I'd take that check, sorry hope I'm not a BAAAAd man

If the post was taken down, that would suggest it's something that shouldn't be discussed here. So maybe you should knock it off? Food for thought.

Now, returning to the subject if we may: do you have a response to the points I made?
