#5: tied between MP Megatron and MP Prime. Both are just such amazing toys and neither is as much fun by itself. Max fun is reached with the pair.
#4: the Classics seeker mold. Such brilliance. Such sheer brilliance.
#3: the Alternator Subarus. Finding Smokescreen in a Target one afternoon got me back into Transformers after about 15 years without them in my life. Maybe the RX-8 is the perfect version of the mold, but the WRX car club holds a special place in my heart.
#2: G1 Prime. I got him for Christmas in 84. I remember it vividly. He was my constant childhood companion. When I got the Encore this year, I had very misty eyes while opening him. He holds THE center place of honor on my Prime shelf.
#1: REVOLTECH Prime. Yeah. A non-transforming Transformer is my favorite one. He's my favorite toy to play with and photograph. It's my list and I call Revoltech Prime my #1! | I LOL'd at the Prime and Megatron pic.

MP Prime (with the G1 style custom trailer): The custom trailer is a must to make him complete, and G1 cartoon perfect! The Transformer that got me back into collecting Transformers.
Music Label Soundwave: What more could you want then a functional Soundwave? G1 accurate with awesome articulation! Scales well with the Classics line too!
Alt Jazz (with repro labels): Jazz is by far my favorite tf character. The RX-7 mold did him justice, add the repro labels and it completes the look and feel of this foundation character G1 Soundwave: By far the coolest of the G1 Transformers. One of the best G1 molds and it's stood the test of time.
MP Megatron (with accessory kit): What good would a G1 accurate Prime be without the same for Megatron? I know allot of people don't care for the mold. But to get a Walther to actually transform into a G1 accurate version of Megatron is no small task. I don't think its even possible to do a better job then what was done.
Honorable Mention, Animated Prowl: By far the best transforming motorcycle ever, in any line of transforming toys! Perfect robot proportions, and highly articulable. They need to take the foundation of that mold and make a BT character from it!
Runners up:
MP Starscream, Henkei Starscream, Classics Bumlebee, Armada Unicron, and Alt Ravage (Jag version).
This is turning into a serious addiction! My collection My feedback My want list |

The TM2 Cybershark mould was great, full of intricate detail, hindered only by it's bland colour pallette and drastically few paint apps. Sky-byte fixed this. Not only were the based colours swapped from dull grey, sickly green and terrible teal chrome to deep blue, pear white, bright yellow, dark silver and chrome blue and silver, but not a single spec of sculpted detail was missed. Each diode, every tube, wire, skin patch, gear, cap, bolt and hose was painted with delicate precision. Add to that the already proud articulation and porportions that ere a hallmark or BW era engineering there is little if any fault with this figure, even his onscreen character was an exceptable one despite being part of an anime redub. 2. Primal Prime:
Another case of a mould where the repaint is often regarded as superior. The mould itself is quite impressive, as it is very large and relatively uncumbersome. With the familiar combination of red, white, silver and blue that is the tradition in Prime toys. The four modes are each done well considering the others. For instance, the weakest mode, the "armoured transport" still does a fairly admirable job of conveying the point that is more of an armoured tank then transport. Thick plates of armour and large treaded wheels combined with and absurdly large turret. The jet mode is more or less and extension of the other forms. Again, very jet-like though it is obvious this is just a vehiclular extension meant to nessesitate flight. it is surprisingly aerodynamic considering the other modes' bulkiness. The beast mode is my favourite. This robotic ape looks like he could kill the world. Massive arms, short, bulky legs and a backpack with guns combined with a facial expression of utter frenzied madness and angst make him as imposing as he is fun: Extremely. He even has poseable hands. (which I beleive was a first for TFs when OP OP was released) The robot mode is probably the best, though. The transformation is surprisingly involved considering he goes from humanoid to humanoid. He basicaly extends his torso and legs to make the arms more porportioned. Again, utter badassery. 3. BW Ultra Megatron:
Nostalgia plays heavy into his selection in the top five. I had him as a kid, I loved robots, I loved Dinosaurs. Megatron was an amazing character on the Cnd cartoon and he had a badass toy to boot. Imagine my excitement when I heard that Takara was reissuing him without the pitiful remoulded head of the original BWX fig and in an even more accurate and badass deco. Though I have yet to obtain him, unfortunately. 4. G1 Encore Jazz:
You gotta love the Jazz-man. I only have the reissue, but man he is cool. TFs must've been the shit back then and I just can't help but love this guy. He's small, but awesome. Oldschool sculpting, rubber wheels and die-cast are great. Chrome was another thing I missed. Nowadays, chrome isn't that nessesary, but in G1 and for most of BW, it is a must for those moulds. And when used properly, it is too nice. I've always loved Jazz's character, and I'm a little disappointed taht his G1 self has yet to receive a decent update. (Alt doesn't count as decent to me. Not with the arm problem) 5. Animated Lugnut.
This spot reserved for when I actually find the God-damned thing!
Ah well, there's always TEH INTERWEBS!!!
Honourable mentions:
Animated Voyager Optimus Prime. G1 Encore Reissue Optimus Prime.
Animated Activators Starscream. (and the Voayger version. They tie)
Beast Wars Waspinator. (Nroooooo!)
Universe/Classics 2 Sunstreaker. |

The paint apps certainly are superior on sunny, but you just cant beat that Prowl mold with a stick. NewCybertron: http://newcybertron.freeforums.org/ - My BRAND NEW TF's Discussion site! #29 | | Stunticon Join Date: May 2007 Posts: 1,126 Location: Virginia Collection Count: 300+ | Ok, here are my choices based on toys I actually own:
5. Energon Rodimus~I'm a little surprised that this guy hasn't popped up on a list yet! I think he is a great update of G1 Rodimus Prime even without the trailer! I still pull this guy off of his shelf from time to time just because I love to transform him. One of the few that I have MISB as well as opened.
4. TFTM Ironhide (Premium)~I love how tough the truck looks. I love how bulky Ironhide looks in bot mode. Add in some very nice paint apps and you have probably the best (IMO, of course) TFTM toy made. Definitely a jewel in my collection.
3. MP Starscream (Wal-Mart) & 20th Anniversary/DVD Prime~I couldn't decide between the two as both are absolutely beautiful! I love the extra details like Starscream's two faces and Prime's arm communicator. Starscream's base gives him the slight edge in how well he displays, but Prime wins with his extremely cool transformation. If you don't own either of these, you are seriously missing out!
2. Armada/Energon Unicron~What can I say? You get probably the coolest villian from any of the animated shows in a pretty faithful representation with the Armada version and then they make him even cooler by painting him black for Energon! Also, they're pretty damn large and intimidating additions to any 'bot collection!
1. Powermaster Optimus Prime/Cybertron Starscream (Supreme)~I feel like I'm cheating a little here by choosing two, but I just couldn't make up my mind. Both are more sentimental choices than anything, but the coolness factor of each are hard to deny. PM Prime was the first Transformer that I ever received from my parents. They didn't have a whole lot of money for toys and they really surprised my brother and I both with our very own for Christmas one year. That's a big deal since they were about $30 each at the time! From the toy perspective, he's a brick with a ton of guns, a cool little engine friend that changes into a robot as well, a trailer that folds out into a wicked base, and just good times all around! The Supreme version of Cybertron Starscream was the first time my girlfriend bought a Transformer for me. I had seen him in the store but decided to pass because of the price. A couple of weeks later my girlfriend surprises me with him! It was her way of showing that she supports me and a hobby that could definitely be viewed as pretty immature by people who aren't "in the know"! He's kind of a brick too, so maybe he fits in pretty well with PM Prime! I like Cybertron Starscream mostly because Starscream was one of my favorite characters when I was a kid and I always wanted one that was freaking huge! This guy does not disappoint! Also, he comes with his own crown! How cool is that!
Wow, that's a lot of stuff just to list 5 toys. I hope I didn't bore you all to death... |

Join Date: Jun 2002 Posts: 19,050 Location: Luton, UK Collection Count: 590 News Credits: 4 | I'm not so keen on Gigatron; I found that the various modes dodn't hold together so well, and his balljointed ankles are a stupid idea. However I do agree with the other 4 toys in your list being exceptional, especially G1 Scorponok. He was the first big Transformer I got as a kid, and I still think he's an amazing toy. Laser Rod Prime still holds up well today, and Classics 2.0 Prowl is indeed a fantastic update. I don't usually collect repaints, but Cryotek was just too damn good to pass up on. I loved Beast Wars TM2 Megatron, and both decos for it are superb.
I find it VERY hard to narrow down a top 5 Transformers, but I'll give it a go from my collection on a generation-by-generation basis: G1/G2
