This is my first post, so please forgive my for breaking any forum rules.

My Leader Class Brawl's turret mechanism (the light and sound) hasn't worked for months, and upon opening it, I've come into a few problems: a tiny black piece that popped out when I opened the mechanism, and three ruined screws that got stripped as I was attempting to remove them. The reason the electronics aren't working is because a solder joint has come undone--but that's not the problem at hand.

I've searched the internet for days looking for any mention a similar problem, or even one in this location on the figure, but this problem seems to be unique to me. I searched the forums for this toy, but was unable to find what I was looking for. I see a lot of modifications done to Transformers toys on these forums, and some really incredible stuff. Is there anyone here who can help me in figuring out where this little black bit goes? And does anyone know what sort of screws I can use as replacements for the ones that I've ruined?

I even tried contacting Hasbro, but they only said they will replace the toy. I would rather not do this, as the last time they replaced a transformer, more than two months passed before I had my replacement. I would much rather fix the one I have.

I do quite a bit of lurking on these forums, and I enjoy them more than any other Transformers website I visit. Any help that anyone can provide would be appreciated. I can provide an image of my problem, but my lack of forum knowledge leaves me unable to upload this image. Thank you!

I wouldn't worry about the black piece unless something felt -really- off when it was reassembled.

As for screws... Take the ones you have to a hardware store/Lowe's/Home Depot and ask if they have anything that size.

About what you said, if Hasbro offered you to replace your Brawl for free even after you opened, I say go for it.

Thanks for the feedback so soon, Soundblaster and Taker!

My image only exists on my hard drive, so I have no URL to post.
I considered taking Hasbro up on their generous offer, but I would prefer the satisfaction of fixing Brawl myself. I'm also far too impatient to wait up to two months for a new one.

I will be heading to Radio Shack and Lowe's tomorrow for a soldering iron and some screws.

i'd go for the replacement, cuz even if it takes long, its not like you were supposed to open the electronic thingy (dunno what the right term is)

My Leader Brawl's primary cannon dosen't work, though his grenade launchers are working just fine, along with his sounds. I can only one of the wires pulled when I was transforming him, though to me it ain't a big deal.

Heh. I yanked the batteries out of mine...in part because the electronics started to malfunction, and in part because I like it better without all the noise. But that's me. It's good to know that Hasbro was so quick to offer an RMA. Some companies put you through hell before they'll do that.

Here's an image of what I'm talking about, if that clears anything up. Thanks, Soundblaster--I hope I've posted this correctly.

I think I'm going to pass on Hasbro's offer to replace it--I think it's such a waste for them to throw away something that's 99% functional. Not to mention that it's a good chance to brush up on my soldering skills. If I find the right screws, I'm going to post that information here in the event anyone else has this problem.

Yeah if you're a good solderer then it should be a relatively quick fix, my dad soldered back my Leader Bulkhead in 2 minutes because he's awesome like that:)  Finding the right screws sound to be the toughest part and just check a hardware store like SB1 said

I managed to resolder that little joint and get the sound and light bit to work again. It was tricky working in such a small space!

But my problem remains that I cannot find replacement screws. I tried Lowe's and Radioshack so far. Lowe's recommended an electronics store like Radioshack, and Radioshack recommended a hardware store like Lowe's. That's just a little bit irritating. Any more suggestions from anyone?

the screws are standard screws so if you have any junkers try those.
