every now and then, some one on either side of the border can help some one on the other side out, for what ever reason. i've had so many people on here help me out getting things, being go betweens for US only shipping e-bay items and US exclusives. it really make me feel good when i can help out to.

I've had all good dealings. everyone has come through for me. My Rant lays with when i try to help other people out.

    RANT:

the last few months, Canada has been privy to a few early released toys, Animated, Classics 2.0, etc. and US collectors are in an uproar about trying to find Canadians to get them for them and help them out.

    sounds fair to me.

Thing is, for me, 7 times out of ten, the deal goes Sour after i've gone and purchased the wanted items. Oh, i have had AMAZING smooth deals with alot of people here, but a few bad apples have really got me double thinking if i want to bother helping anymore.

What people don't realize that in Canada, Deluxe are $17 retail after taxes, depending on the province.and voyagers are almost double teh US price. it takes $4 for me to take the bus back and forth to pick these up, so i add travel expense to my cost, which is still cheaper than anywhere else. i pick these up for people, then have then back out. its very strange. i don't get the small business shipping discounts online retailers have, so my shipping is a bit higher.

I had animated toys for people, voyagers, deluxe, and took orders for Classics, and went and got 3 full sets and extras for people, and, having completed some of the deals, i have people back out, or just not even respond to me that i have their figures ready.

i was stuck with 2 voyager starscreams and a megatron, and a set of animated deluxe i had to return to TRU, and now i am stuck with a set of Classics i will have to return soon too. and then i'm out extra bus fare bringing them back.

IT's 30 degrees here, it's humid, there is very little wind so maybe i'm a bit more cranky than usual, but is it just me, and i'm being to critical, or does this happen to other Canadians trying to help out other people?

Some people (like myself) would like the figures but legitimately can't pull together that much cash to get the figures and/or can't justify it once they do.

Some people (like those you're likely ranting about) are too thick to realize that there are costs on top of the retail price of the figure (that happens to be higher than what they're used to paying anyway). That's the American mindset. The way around it? Deal with people that have feedback and/or you know will pull through to the end.

Did you try ebaying the Universe figs? I bet if you put the set up with a $60 BIN they'd go pretty quick (since individually they go at $25-30)

$17 after taxes? I though canada had a similar retail price as the US. It makes me feel a little better, since deluxes are $18.8 over here.

Nope, Deluxe here are about $15+ tax. Each province has it's own provincial tax, and a national tax, so final price varys in each province. Voyagers are almost $40 and leaders are usually over $60. Basic figs are usually $9ish.

everyone seems to want our help, but when we give them the final cost, they run away, not realizing that We're paying that as our cost.

    oh well.

That's probably it right there. I imagine it's a case of folks relatively new to the TF scene who aren't aware of the higher retail cost of TFs in Canada (why Hasbro doesn't adjust the prices, I don't know).

    Ebay:
I was thinking of getting these from Canada from someone, but after I found out they all had that generic card back thing I figured I'd just wait, because sometimes I like to display stuff MIB after awhile.

Dude I'll take them at $20 each. Hell I'll give you bus fare too. They are no where to be found right now.

Don't feel bad. I've had plenty of people back out on me during a transaction, especially the most expensive ones. =\

At least you can take them back to the store, I've been stuck to the point I ended up having to eat the cost because I didn't have my receipt anymore.

    I was ballistic.
