question about the package of energon line

why are there two different packages in this line, red and black, even for the same toys?
to say the same is just my own guess since i've never owned an energon toy from two different package. so if the toys have two packages, say scorponok, bulkhead, etc., do they have any difference?
thanks!

I'm guessing to sell toys. Hasbro was probably hoping that kids would think it's something different and have thier parents buy it. It probably worked like that for completionists/MISB collectors.

It was just a running change as far as I know. They changed part of the line's packaging, so they changed all of it?

New packaging, same product.

I think the red packaging was for "The Powerlinx Battles".

Why change it? Personally I think it looks better, but I can't imagine there's any huge important reason that has anything to do with the storyline or continunity in any way shape or form. Kind of like the rockbubbles VS smooth bubbles of BW.

so the red version came out later?
well, i ll just think that it was some random idea. unlike Armada, at the toy was different in color for the same model.

That's why you don't get paid the big bucks to work for the big 'H'.

Packaging shifts to a different design in almost all modern lines because it keeps the shelves in stores looking fresh. So even if the same toy is on the shelf, retailers are content to order more because it looks at though product is moving through.

It can be theorized that the constant knife-edge pressure has gradually gotten to Punch, and that part of him has been lost, possibly irredeemably.

my guesses:

1. Marketing - Kids like bright colors. The original set was very dark and dull.
2. To correspond with the TV season 2.
3. To further promote the power linking functionality / gimmick.

yeh, i think you are right and i was wrong. there cannot be any random decisions in business world.
the new package would have given the retailer the idea of new product, also to the kids. but when this package came out, did Hasbro inform the retailer as new product coming out? probably i've gone too far and asked stupid question.

i agree with e3nine. the "powerlinx" on the red package would promote the idea to match the cartoon show and little children would notice it more.
