Hmm, here's what I remember of the original teams my sisters and I put together:

Autobots:
All five Aerialbots (Silverbolt tended to function as the leader of our Autobots, if I recall).
Bumblebee (G2)

Skram (my first TF, if recall correctly, and I still have a soft spot for him)

G2 Megatron (made for a good match with Superion)

G2 Tornado (another one I have a soft spot for for no logical reason)

Yeah, we had lots of random guys.

Of course, we'd often have guys defect for no apparent reason - Tornado often tended to wind up on the Autobot's side and majorly angsty.

 

Should be noted that a couple were my brothers (Pointblank and Shockwave) as our parents always bought us one toy the same so we could play together. We always "shared" though.

Oh sweet all memories... as a Kid I didn't have a big team of TF's. They were really expensive for my parents in those days. So far, these were my guys:

Terrocons: Rippersnapper, Sinnertwin, Blot, Cuthroat.

Technobots: Afterburner, Nosecone.


After some years, when I returned to collecting seriously, I could complete both Abominus and Computron. I was so happy.

 

Since my sister stole my birthday, born on the same day one year later (I never even had my first birthday) I only got one thing each year. The only Transformer that I EVER had when I was a kid was Twin-Twist. Although my Grandma did try, she got me Leader-1 for Christmas one year, I only had Twin-Twist as a kid. It sucked being poor.

Wow, guess I was the poor kid on the block. I had Sideswipe, Mirage, Hoist, and Cliffjumper. I don't really remember playing with them aside from transforming them from time to time. I was more of a GI Joe kid.

 

PM Prime along Pretenders Jazz, Bumblebee and Grimlock teamed up with Landfill and Rollbar. (Also Backstreet and Quickswitch came into play at some points).

They kicked the bejesus out of Iguanus and Windsweeper.

Then Action Masters took over my life.

 

Wow... brings back memories... I didn't have a lot of Transformers as a kid (my mother thought that they were too complicated for me so I really didn't get a good set of them until the 86 movie came out and until I got PM Prime... Ultra Magnus used to run around sans his armor and was my Prime). So, because my Transformers were so short staffed I used TMNT, MOTU, GI Joe and GoBots to fill out my ranks. Was really really fun too...

It's fair to say I was Autobot-centric as a child   I distinctly remember that Prime & Magnus were christmas presents, in their respective years, from my parents; Hot Rod & Inferno were birthday presents; Prowl was bought during a trip into London with my Mum & Aunt; and my Grandma bought me Runabout, as a surprise, when we went into town one afternoon in school holidays. Strange how you can remember details like that.

I think my 'Cons were often bolstered by Star Wars & Action Force "baddies"..
