Many people just stuff black insulating foam in the gaps to stop dust from getting in. You can buy 3/8 inch foam strips in the weather stripping isle of Home Depot. Dust does get in my cases but I dust them about once a year. Much better than once a week. I may pick up some foam strips myself eventually. Mark
Just got some glass display cases for christmas. They hold a lot of my collection but not quite all of it comfortably. Might have to add one of these babies
The detolf cases are perfect and you can really pack them full i have most of my generation 1 and and beast wars in 6 cases..perfect
I'm working on it guys - my wife bought them for me online and she is tracking down her email receipt. Just FYI, they weren't cheap to ship or cheap in general ( so she tells me). They do look awesome though . Love that woman!
Just picked up 2 of the Detolf shelves today at an Ikea in Germany. I love them and it's easy to put together. Granted you need to have some help though.
Ha, this thread is fun. It just so happens that I have a trip to the Minneapolis IKEA (it's the closest one and a 7-8 hr drive) planned for tomorrow so I can grab some of these cases along with one other case. I have run out of room in my TFs display and I want some of these as a stop-gap. Gandizer, I am really digging that set-up with the 6 cases. I am planning getting 4 of them if I can fit them in my car, but your set-up is very nice. EDIT: supervir, thanks for the link. $400 for those really isn't all that bad honestly and the shipping is really quite reasonable compared to a lot of other sites selling similar display cases. Make sure you tell your wife thanks and tell her she has good taste.
I checked my shipping fee and it cost about 80$ from SACRAMENTO to STOCKTO CA, hmmmmm what do u guys think about that especially for all those familiar with those cities?reasonable or not? Ill be getting two though.
I am a big fan of the billy bookcases myself as shelves. They sell doors to convert them. They are a good value for shelves. Not as modern looking, but I think they are a good option for some looking to display volume. http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/3517/p1030573n.jpg
I've packed my Detolf with even more since the start of this thread. When I finished my basement, I didn't have enough room on the other side of my TV to set up my second Detolf so I've put as many G1's in the one case as possible and almost everything else is stored away. Still love these cases. The case looks so much LESS "chaotic" in person compared to the pictures.
