how simple to assemble? about how long to assemble? i really like these, and heck, 60 bucks has been the best price for such elegant shelves that i have seen. one last question. any chance to get a picture of this: like if you have a spare one lying around, just to see what it looks like. thanks
Assembly was relatively straight forward and simple for me. I do suggest having someone else help with stuff like the door. By myself I did it in a hour. Whether you decide to get it or not you won't be dissappointed. I want to get another, but I don't really have a place to put it.
I bought three of these with some birthday money last year and they've been great! Mark94, those risers are nice. I'm planning to do something similar eventually, though for now I still need to move everyone in (still have most of my Alts packed up, and they are intended to be the stars of the display). Oh, and the carpet assembly snag issue... heh, happened to me too on the first one I set up. Needless to say I was more mindful of the carpet when putting the rest together. I looked all over for the perfect display case and finally settled on these because I could actually afford them (saw some display cases for $5000 and up). They've turned out to be quite excellent and I think I might buy a couple more this year.
HAHAHA glad he did though. If he wouldn't have bumped this i would have never known of the existence of these awesome shelves... I need 1 or 2...
I've seen some examples of these cases and now that I know the price(and they have a brand new Ikea right here in Cincinnati now-bonus), I think it's time to show the collection in style...
That's why I did it! I think I'm getting some for myself too. I was just impressed with the Alternator display and for doods recommendation to put black cloth behind the figures... and the extra lighting... verrrry nice.
Thanks. I am in the early stages of moving and will have to wait before i get one of these. but when i do, i am looking at getting one, or two if possible each month until i can fit my collection into them. I really want to get at least one for my gundam collection because i am tired of dusting them.
I am curious to know what these weigh when they're empty, and if you were to move them, do the shelves come out without having to disassemble the entire case? I've been looking for an alternative to the oversized catch all that is currently parked in my livingroom... This stuff needs to be in the man cave where it belongs.
I don't think I would move them while they are assembled. When we moved into our new place the movers were hired said they have seen them pretty much explode while they were being moved. They are super easy to rebuild and they dont take move than 20 mins including cleaning the fingerprints off the glass.
Yeah I saw an entertainment center do that once when I was moving. Good to know though that you can't just empty it and dolly it away.
Anyone have an alternative to these shelves (there is no Ikea in my area, and according to my calculations shipping would be astronimical)... I do like the look of the shelves though...
Yea that was my plan when we moved, the moved said they could pack the insides with wrap and wrap them all up but chances are they would still break and we were only moving like 10 minutes away. @beanman, it sucks not having an ikea near you. We gotta drive 5 hrs away if I wanna pick them up and the shipping is crazy high
I wanted to order a couple of these as well, but I'm getting an approximate shipping cost of $159 to Nova Scotia, Canada ?!?!????? Holy Smokes that's expensive for shipping !!! I think I'll pass
I'm in the process of pre-planning on reorganizing my collection room, and I want to go this route as well. The nearest IKEA is about 3 hrs away, so I can sympathize. I'm going to need multiple cabinets anyways, so it'll give me time to prepare for my purchase
I wish I could find some trim to put around the door the gap is so big on mine that dust gets on the inside of the case.
