Just a quick question which, hopefully, a few of the more knowledgable members of this site may have an answer to. I a kinda a MISB collector. That is, I tend to buy items which I like from many transformers toy lines and keep them unopened, unless my curiosity gets the better of me However, having looked at a few of my newer Japanese MISB toys (Binaltechs, Kiss Players, Binaltech Asterisks, Henkei etc) I have noticed that some of them are double taped. This is especially obvious on the Kiss Player toys. Some of these were bought from other collectors, while most are straight from the shop. I am just curious as to whether there is a reason for new Japanese toys to have two, or more, layers of sticky tape on them?
I've always wondered the same thing. Some say that factories sometimes double tape either side or both. I have examined some of my double taped tfs and they all look like "from factory." http://beastwars.us/
maybe some of them were missing parts and they had to open them at the factory to check that they were complete.
this is very common on japanese toys from all sorts of toylines going back to the 80's (earliest I can remember encountering it). I don't know the reason for it though.
My TFC Blitzwing was double taped, and I bought that brand new from an import shop. Definitely looked factory done to me, and neither layer looked like it had been cut previously. No idea why. I happily cut through both layers myself though.
