And just like the movie line, near the end of it's run you'll be seeing entire collections being sold on Ebay. In the beginning they pay 3x & 4x the retail price, then they'll have to unload them for next to nothing to make room for the next line.

    Ebay:
Buying early toys for markups to have them 1-6 months early is nothing new, it's just that in Animated's case there is a -lot- more stuff showing up that early on ebay than any other line I can recall.

I really enjoy having the figures and proto's early so I'm prepared to pay for it if I can afford it, its no different to buying MIB G1, I collect for enjoyment not for value or investment

because people buying pre-release are doing just that, Soundwave, Jazz, Snarl, Leader Class Bulkhead, Rollout Prime etc, also here in the uk nothing is out yet so we're still relying on ebay :)

You also need to consider that not all the buyers are necessarily American... some of them may be fans in countries that might never see the Animated toys there, or even if they do, not more than say, Wave 1 or something... in which case, ebay provides a nice alternative to help get them.

In addition, for those of us living in apartments or similarly smaller homes, who actually open up their toys and play with them, buying them loose-complete means that you dont have the hassle of wondering where you're going to store the boxes! XD

Not WAS, IS. I can still buy as many of any of Wave 1 as I like, they're constantly restocked. I'm not in Cincinnati, by the way :)
