I was just checking to see if my Masterpiece Starscream would fit in the box with his coronation stuff attached. They fit perfectly & I was thinking, now THIS is what should have been in Wal-Marts instead of what we got. What do you think?

I think what Hasbro should have done is exactly what they did (actually no they should have saved on paint and not covered him in all that muck/weathering) the coronation set is just a nice fanwank extra.

yeah, i mean prior to their release there was just no getting an official show-colors MP Starscream at ALL.

they COULD have included extra coronation bits, yes. but "SHOULD have?" no. the lack of them certainly doesn't make what WAS released any less of a release. i feel that ultimately this toy should be judged according to what it is, not what it isn't.

 

I think the coronation parts,Megatron gun (in the box, can't see in the pics) & the original colors make it "Masterpiece". What they gave us was a cool figure but not the full Masterpiece. Kinda like they gave us Prime MP-01, then later they made the full "Masterpiece" version with the trailer. What they gave us just wasn't quite right. Just my opinion.

 

The release was fine the way it is.

Starscream's 15 or so seconds of screen time wearing a silly cape and crown do not constitute requirements to the Masterpiece check list.

Hell, they might as well have thrown a handful of dirt in as a special edition "Post Mortem Starscream" if we're going to require things like this to make a Masterpiece.

 

I thought the crown on the nosecone was enough of a nod to TF:TM. But I'm glad you're happy with the coronation set.

 

You guys really know how to take all the fun out of this hobby. How negative do you actually have to be?

It goes from "Hey,check out this cool custom I did. It's the perfect coronation Screamer! I can totally re-create the scene from the 86 movie."

to

"Hey, check it out, I'm gonna go light it on fire & then piss on it!"

Before you start trying to pick Alex apart on semantics, you might want to try rereading your own post... the title says "could", but the post says "should"...

And I agree with him; it's an unecessary bit of fanwankery in my book, and not something for mass release. It's a ridiculous get-up he wore for about 10 seconds before he carked it.

 

But your original post says "SHould"

No one is taking the 'fun' out of your thread they just told you what they thought, which is after all what you asked for.  

It would have been nice if MP Starscream had came with this stuff, and what you've done looks pretty cool, but it is by no more required to make it 'Masterpeice' as Kemzeek was required to be packaged with Megatron.

I'm just happy we got it at all. I can do without the cape and crown. Sorry if that sucks all your fun out.

Now MP Megs, HE should have come with the extra gun parts.

Hah! Pretty neat presentation, and somewhat...TELLING... that the Crown and Pauldrons actually fit in the tray so well.... Things that make you go HMMM...

*sigh* It woulda been nice, for sure.

Also: Nice Thundercracker and Sunstrom there! Why don't you whip up a little photochop to cut n' paste over the names on the box?  

 

This tread reminds me, still have to give Walmart Screamer his Coronation set.  

 

While some part of me does wish he had come with the coronation set I'm still quite happy with what we got.
