This IS NOT the Takara version from Superlink, as the body retains the U.S. colors and the face ISN'T the tweaked remold. I had found it at a Toys R Us in the overheard bins at the tail-end of Energon.
Now I had heard of this variation maybe only once in passing on the message boards, and that was it. It wasn't not unlike the rumored running-change on Powerlinx Hot Shot from Armada with painted red foreheads. There doesn't seem to be any documentation of Energon Hot Shots with silver faces that I know of.
Does anybody know what the deal is? Or, to make this thread interesting, does anybody have any similiar items to this? A variation of a toy that for all you know doesn't really exist? |

It's documented. If it's been said on the interenet it's been regonized. I'm sure almost everyone who has him has known of it. XBL GT: SPLITTLIP Quote:

I'll have to check and see which one I have, though if the silver face was a running change towards the end of 'regular' Hot Shot's production run I'm sure mine is the first release since i got it when the line was first released. |

I beleive it was deduced that all of the Hotshots in the initial run were grey, then the change to silver took affect. Quote:

See, I was right. Just because people haven't heard of it doesn't mean it wasn't documented. |
I guess it's an obscure/not widely known variation, then. This link is really interesting, SPLIT LIP. I'm glad you posted it. Now would you say that silver-faced Hot Shot is more show-accurate than the Takara version? |
