Classics Prime and G2 Laser Prime have a roughly equal 'coolness' level in terms of the main figure. Classics has a more traditional/better color scheme, while Laser Prime is pretty much the toy gimmick king, with the lights and trailer 'n' all.
Classics Megs is overall a nicer toy, G2 Megs is a nice-looking semi-brick. I do like the head/face sculpt on G2 Megs more than Classics though.  How the Animated toy line REALLY came to an end | |

I prefer the original release (I think the chrome looks bad) though. G2 megatron is my favorite version of Megatron. he's big, he's well-armed, he turns into a tank so no one has to aim him, and his head sculpt is perfect. | |

The closest to the Prime figure that I have is RID Scourge, and he's full of win! As for the G2 Brick of Megatron, I've been a fan of the mold since I first saw it, and can't wait until I finally pick up any of the G2 Megatron tank molds... ( G2 Megs, G2 Hero Megs, RID Bludgeon, Reverse Convoy, etc)
I do quite enjoy the Classics line though, don't get me wrong, they're great, but I think the 2 G2 molds are excellent as well!

But as for Prime, both of them are pretty articulate. However, I'd say get the RiD version of G2 Prime as an evil Prime and keep Classics as the good one  | |

The classics are hard to beat, but I love the old style transformation to laser Prime. Plus I love tht particular mold thank to RiD Scourge.
I just like simplicity when it comes to Primes transformation, but that's just me I guess
