G1 Tailgate: Why the cut card?

At least two auctions on eBay have a MOSC Tailgate with a cut card, right down to the bubble. Is there a story behind these items? I find it odd that two sellers have exactly the same figures cut in that fashion. Anyone know?

maybe the card was shit. but the seller is still an asshole, many times I wanted to buy from him, but him being an asshole made me think otherwise. I'd love to meet him in person though.

There's no story, it was just common to keep a figure easy to store and still mint condition to cut the excess card away from the bubble.

Only other explanation I could imagine is someone wanted the tech-specs more than the toy.

I have seen minibots like this on ebay a lot. I think they're KOs/bootlegs, and the card was cut so you can't say if it's a legit product or not.

Big thanks goes to Nemesis Predaking for this awesome sig!!
