Let's begin - I have just participated in my first toy trade here on the boards. Generally, I'm a collector that buys just for the sheer unbridled joy of it; I like the toys, I enjoy having them. I don't care about their monetary value, I have no intent of selling them later on in life, etc, you know the drill. I'm a geeky little bastard with a heart of gold!
I however have almost broken that heart. I almost can't believe I actually allowed myself to give up something: my TRU Reissue Thundercracker, still MISB. Hardly a "grail" of any sort you may say, but still, it was a figure I quite enjoyed having. I love the character, and that was as close to the actual G1 figure I'll probably ever have for a long, long while. Now though, it's gone, and I can't help but feel a bit woeful about it. I'm not sure why, not sure how such an emotion could come over a TOY, but alas, it's there, and I'm just not sure how to feel about it!
Basically, I'm curious to know - did any of you that have sold figures off, or traded them away for the first time, despite how many times you may have told yourself that you're taking your plastic crack to the grave no matter what, feel a bit odd doing so, or am I merely a complete and utter lunatic?

In the lot were Tracks, Hoist, Silverstreak, Grapple, and Inferno. Also, I'm pretty sad I got rid of my Armada Starscream and Thundercracker. On a lighter note I have to quote Charlton Heston in saying my TRU reissue seekers will have to be pried from "my cold dead hands." |

Well, glad to know I'm not totally alone in this, haha
I'll probably buy another 'Cracker eventually, whenever I find a decent price of course. I MAKE MUSIC | Ktulu on Youtube | Castle Geek-Skull Blog | Junkion Feedback |

now i'm spending a lot more trying to get all of them back, lol.
collecting is up and down for me, sometimes i'm really into it and sometimes i go through phases where i stop caring. PM me if you have any weird/rare g1 bootlegs for trade or sale, i have some rare bootlegs for trade. |

I had bought it in 1986 for ~$30, so the profit wasn't bad (although I later found out the set was resold for $400). In 2003 I bought a near mint Defensor off of E-bay for $150 (individual cards/box), but it's just not the same as the giftset.
I'm really glad that the G1 Skylynx I was also offering in 1995 never sold. Replacing that piece would be expensive! |
