This is what I use as my display piece for Jetfire. It really is a nice alternative to paying much more for a boxed Jetfire. I settled for this guy a couple years ago and until I can afford a few hundred bucks for one figure then I'm all good with this one. I do have a few junker Jetfire figures but nothing I can really restore to beauty. So yeah. Long story short, I'm set.

I'm still kicking myself for not picking one up for $70 a couple of years ago. At least I got the brown VF-1A (grunt suit? Kakizaki? is there really a difference?) and Hikaru's VF-1A. I have some love for old school toys like that.

I got one of the Bandai VF1-S reissues thinking I would never get a complete Jetfire, then I ended up getting all the parts to complete my Jetfire, so now I have both. The VF1-S kit has a couple of differences from the Jetfire toy. First, the gun has missiles it can fire and didn't have the spring removed. Also, there was a second canopy for the robot mode if I remember correctly (my VF1-S is in storage right now, unfortunately). Either way, the Bandai VF1-S is worth getting if you can afford it.

The re-issue VF-1S' arm armor doesn't fit Jetfire as well.

I had a 1/60th scale Yamato DYRL Hikaru VF-1A for a while, until I picked up a near-complete Jetfire for $70 (only missing the armor clips & gunclip)... After that, I lost my interest in the Yamato figure and sold him on Ebay... I have to say it, I like the original Takatoku/Bandai valkyrie mold over the more 'show accurate' (and expensive as heck) Yamato molds...

That and I hated having to REMOVE the legs on that 1/60th scale figure to transform him... I dislike having to remove parts from a NEWER Transformer!

Then buy a 1/48 scale Yammy. No parts removal.:)

Well, except the hands, but only if you want to use the fixed posed cartoon hands...

I got the Bandai 1/55 VF-1S and displayed it a few times. I prefer the Yamato's design tho.. even though I still like this toy and use it as substitute for Jetfire which I never have.

The reissue Valks do indeed come with an extra canopy, an opaque skull squadron one. I'm really glad they did that, as it makes the toy look a bit cooler in batroid mode.
