$12.99 for a Deluxe? WTF TRU!?!

Hey, I don't normally buy TF from Toys R Us, in fact I don't really buy many things at all from Toys R Us. But today I went to get a Classics Ramjet(because TRU is the only place in my town that still has any) and he was $12.99.

12.99 for a deluxe! That's almost what megas used to cost! Then I look over and their Cybertron toys are 9.99. What is up with this?

Three extra bucks a figure, that means if you buy a wave at TRU it's like paying for an entire extra figure.

Sorry, just a little rant.

That's quite a bit less than what Deluxes cost here... when TFs show up at all that is.
A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?

Not news here (CA Bay Area). The prices even actually vary from TRU to TRU, but, mainly, Classics have been $12.99. They started as $9.99 and then were jacked up soon after for reasons unknown. And $9.99 for a Deluxe Cybertron bot is standard, right?

Many thanks to kjeevahh for the sweet sig.!!

Yup. Not to mention that since Ramjet, Cliffjumper and Grimlock haven't been released here we're having to pay between $20 and $30 for him. Before shipping.
So sod paying an extra $3 for one; think how you'd feel paying an extra $15-20.

The price of the classics spiked to 12.99 the week of their spend $25 and get $5 off coupon. I went there to take a look for a Mirage and Ramjet ... I left laughing.

Yep, seems that every country outside of North America pays those prices. Somewhat strange.

Reminds me of when I was looking at the prices of N64 accessories in a UK comic book. I noticed that all the prices were the same as the US prices, except in pounds instead of dollars.

I think the point of the original post is not to complain about prices in general (I, for one, am very happy with how cheap our TFs are here in the US). Instead, imagine if every store in your country charged 9.99 for a Deluxe, but one store charged 12.99, and that 12.99 store was not any kind of specialty or comic book shop. You'd be perplexed as well. Hell, I'm kind of irked not because it costs more, but because if this is a trend at TRU then they're really going to circle the drain. I know price inflation like this is what killed most of the local Kay Bee stores. Who wants to pay a 20%+ markup?
