The reissues I have stay in their boxes. Nice to look at for a bit of nostalgia but other than that I'll take the new stuff over them, there's really no comparison for me personally. |

Some of the guys that aren't represented so well, or the later, better engineered stuff (IE: Stuff that won't break in half just from transforming it) I'll take out and play with time to time.
But nowadays, I much prefer RiD, Cybertron, and Universe. Especially RiD and Uni for my play. Great engineering, high articulation, awesome looks...that is what I look for when I play with a toy, nowadays.
My G1 stuff I keep stored away safely, and take some out here and there to display. Except for a few (God Ginrai is awesome, even if a brick, and can be used as a lethal weapon!).

I may well not think much to the original cartoon, but I still absolutely LOVE the toys.
Incidentally, Shin Densetsu, the TFs are displayed alongside a bunch of old GI Joe stuff including a WHALE, BUGG Swampmasher, Avalanche & Mamba. So I'm right there with you on that point too |

While I never got into Universe/Beast Wars/etc., I think the new Classics versions of the original TFs are cool but I still vastly prefer the originals. Although the articulation is great on the newer ones, I'm really not a fan of how much more complex and time-consuming transforming them seems to be. As a kid, I always liked transforming them as quickly as possible (since they were in the middle of a battle of course), and now I appreciate how straightforward the original versions are. I have to admit nostalgia is a huge factor for me, so I have to go with G1 over any of the newer versions any day. |
