Once they are purchased, they either come out of the box or not... but after that they go on display. I get my enjoyment from collecting them, and looking at them on my shelves. Just about the only times I touch them are:
1 to clean off the dust
2 when I pack them away or put them back in thier packaging.
3 rearanging when I need to make room for all the new ones I've gotten
I do tend to get the most enjoyment out of my original G1s... but I do love it all. |

For some, the TF sequence is just fun to do and it's also a nice memory test for me, especially if I haven't done it in a while (Sixshot, Jetfire). Other times, the gimmick is a lot of fun (Soundwave + cassettes).
But I tend to TF my newer toys more often. This is usually because they're the ones still on display and easier to get to (a lot of my collection is still boxed up).
And of course the Classics are the stars of my comic strip, so they're always around somewhere, getting into mischief. |

My G1 stuff is more of a chore to get down since they are all in their boxes. But still fun to fiddle with, Blitzwing is the shiznit. The others are great too since I worry a little less about breaking them and will let my kids play with them.
"Barbie vs. Transformers" is a fun game in my house. [my music] |

Though with the newer toys and the improved playability, I think some of the allure of the original toys is the nostalgia, the reminder of the simpler times when you didn't have to go to work every day, or worry about paying the mortgage that month. Despite the jokes and all that I kinda found funny the whole Jumperstarter idea. Previous to that one I bought Reissue Smokescreen, it looks good with the rest of the G1 toys.
I'm stil tryng to find G1 Hot Spot to complete my Defensor.
I grew with G1 and yet I prefer the new toys. Why? Articulations and details.^^ There are only a few G1 toys that I actually want, I keep finding Prime, Soundwave, the Insecticons, Megatron, Screamer, etc, etc. But none of them calls my attention.
BTW: who has some Transmetals to sell? XD Just Kidding.
Perdi mi firma :(.

This is because most of G1, compared to todays standards, are just bad toys in my opinion. I think they generally look pretty awful in bot mode, whereas updated figures like Classics, most Titaniums and the Alternators usually look good in both modes. Even the G1's that I do keep out are mainly for display purposes only. I might fiddle with Megs or Soundwave now & again, but overall they're still underwhelming these days. If they had more articulation and more than a few points of transform, it would probably be a different story.
Nostalgia is nice and everything, but I can't convince myself to buy or display the original G1 stuff when, as far as I'm concerned, it's still all inferior product compared to the modern figures more readily available. |

I grew up with G1 and love the toys. There are some amazing looking bots in that line. I haven't seen a bot more awe inspiring than Fort/Grand/Brave Max. Or a combiner that looks cooler than Predaking. |

They were fun back then are still are now. In fact, my main TF display is my g1 collectiona nd anything I can relate directly to g1 ie alternators, BT/ALTS and titanium. The newest stuff i keep on regular display otherwise is beast wars. My Collection My Transformers the Movie 2007 Collection |
