For us older fans, are vintage g1/reissues toys still fun to play with?

You know, I currently don't even own any G1 that wasn't one of my originals back in the day. I found that I don't so much enjoy the G1 toys as I enjoy reliving childhood memories of my particular G1 toys. I have way too much fun with modern toys doing photo shoots and making up battle scenarios and creating little scenes with them. The old ones are like wonderful little packages of memories strewn about my room, reminding me where I came from. The new ones are the ones I have fun with just for the sake of having fun.

Well, the only old TFs I still have from my childhood are Powermaster Prime (just the cab) and Grimlock. They're nice display pieces, but they don't come close in terms of playability to the new stuff. I could still see younger children enjoying them a lot, though, as articulation wouldn't be a big a deal and the difficulty of their transformations is just right for a young person (around 4-8 year olds, I guess).

For the most part, they're not as fun to play with as the newer toys, which are more articulated, more durable, and usually packed with as many or more features. I still think they're a lot of fun, though. I especially have way too much fun with G1 Megatron. Certain figures, like G1 Ravage, still impress me today, even next to the newer toys.

I have a spare Blaster, Twincast(reissue) and Soundwave on my desk along with several Minibots and Cassettes. Otherwise the rest of my G1 Collection is in storage. Every so often I transform one of these (and I regret not getting a second Soundblaster Reissue).

Thats a good question indeed. While I've definitely been getting into toys like Classics and such, I still think G1 had some good toys that they might not be getting credit for, granted the originals were a lot more fragile and didnt last quite as long, however one thing I'm not to fond of are the looks of tfs these days, up until the Classics with the past few lines all we got were futuristic looking automobiles and they all had stupid gimmicks like linking or planet keys or whatever else, not to mention the excessive kibble, I'm sick of seeing figures that have seats or doors hanging off of there arms or carrying backpacks, seems like asethetically wise, I still like G1, and of course the charachters I think were a lot better and fleshed out, so I guess I'm a fan of both, but I think both have there flaws.

I definitely am more apt to pull out a g1 fig to mess with over a later line figure... I say that with the exception being a titanium or classics fig meant to represent a g1 figure.

Hell yes they're still fun to play with. I really enjoy the more complex transformations of todays Transformers, but every once in awhile I just want to fiddle with something and not use my entire brain...minibots are perfect for that

I love the G1 stuff, they oftentimes more fun to play with than the newer stuff. G1 Powermaster Prime has tons of playability and looks good in all modes. I even wouldn't mind modern bricks (like Energon Wing Saber) if they were well done. G1 Powerm

My G1 Reissues are pretty much display only. They're great figures, but I display them in a different room than the rest of my collection. I guess I could change that since I got a new shelf unit.

I, for one, do not collect gen1 for a few reasons.
1. I don't have the money.
2. they are not available in the retail stores
3. While I can appreciate the look and aesthetic of a complete GEN1 collection, I don't really like the individual figures as most look like bricks.

One of the reasons why I got back into collecting Transformers was the new possibility and look of the figures. I even passed on the chance to by the reissues when they came out, but regrettably could not bring myself to shell out the cash.

That being said, If I had the money, I would certianly shell of the cash for a complete gen1 collection in a heartbeat.
