I have recently found some new KO's to the list, not sure how new they are but Combiner wars Superion G1 colors and Defensor going off pics I found on Ebay. Now i do not mind some KO and under some conditions they can be preferred but take a look at Hot Spot's shoulder, not the kinda quality I would find acceptable even for little kids. If you have any doubts check out the symbols.

Alright so I just bought a G1 Optimus Prime (canadian version) and I know for a fact that the box is legitimate, but lets talk about the figure itself. first of all, the figure is nearly flawless. Not perfect but pretty damn close. The chrome wear is as minimal as it gets. The guy I bought it from says he had it stowed away for 20 plus years and if he's telling the truth it makes sense, but if he's not of course it could be a ko. The thing about this prime that is making me so paranoid is that it has signs of being both real, and a fake. Aside from the condition of the figure, there's the caps on the wheels. The front pin bulges out just like an original and the back wheels have cylindrical rounded off caps unlike the flat caps of a ko. Sounds legit right? Well there's a few other things that make me question it. For example have you ever noticed how G1 Primes legs split unevenly the further down them you go? Well mine has a perfectly even gap all the way down the legs just like a ko. However upon further research I learnt that many of the first releases of prime actually have the perfectly straight and even legs that I suppose the KO mold was based on. How common is this? Do any of you have G1 primes who's legs are split evenly? Of the three primes I own, two of them don't stand perfectly flat. They wobble. And of course, this one doesn't wobble at all. Perfect symmetry in the legs. Now here's the biggest thing that is scaring me. I noticed prime's arms are tight when rotating the shoulder and behold, the thin plastic piece that attaches the shoulder to the body is put in upside down. The other two Primes I own have this small piece put in the other way. Here's some pictures to describe what I'm talking about.

    If this is most Primes
    Capture1.PNG

    This is mine
    Capture.PNG

Naturally, noticing this caused me to go into a frantic state looking at every picture of a G1 optimus I could find until I found two others that matched mine and I could verify as real primes. I also noticed that every KO prime has this error.. that did little to calm me. The primes that have this error, and arent KO's seem to be some of the earliest runs of the figure. They were all 1984 and one was even a diaclone prime, so could that be it? Could primes with this error just be the few remnants of the diaclone figures that were rebranded as Optimus Primes before release? Or is this a common factory error that I am just learning of? If you guys could help me get to the bottom of this, I would owe you all a life debt. When I have time later I'll be sure to post pictures of my figure so you can see for yourself. However most of these differences I think are rather known. Thank you!!

I see there's a Mindwipe and Skullcruncher KO out now too. The problem I have with the KO minibots is they aren't stickered, so very barebones.

How does eBay usually handle KO cases ? I purchased an item believing it to be authentic (authentic pricing of item) and I got it in mail and it’s KO. Other than me being a dummy, how worried should I be?

    Hi Keebs
What I would do with any ebay purchase I'm unhappy with is to contact the buyer and be open and honest about what has happened. Something like " Hi, I purchased this item as it was listed as a authentic Transformer, however it appears to be a knock off because of X Y & Z, I would like to return the item for a full refund (they pay the postage) for the item. Once it's back they refund, never go in angry or aggressive IMHO

So I just noticed that there are a bunch of G1 Minibot KO "reissue" figures on eBay, has anyone picked any up? How's the quality?

If no one else has, I might buy a couple and see how they turn out. Though with these I'd want them mostly for the packaging...

The tricky thing with the KO minibots seems to be most come without stickers, and the packaging. I picked up a Warpath and yellow Cliffjumper at the end of August when a 15% off sale was going. The Warpath was missing his stickers including rubsign, the plastic quality looked good but the card was scuffed around the edges and the bubble was dirty/slightly discolored. The yellow Cliffjumper was carded in vehicle mode like a pre-rub, but did have the rubsign and sticker on the back of his head, the bubble was clear but the card was incredibly thin/wavy.

I want these for the packaging as well (I would love to have a set of pre-rubs if they ever offered them) but it seems really hard to get them in mint condition.

Thanks for the info. Just like anything else from China, it appears to be a bit hit-or-miss. I might try to order a few and see how they turn up.

So i was looking at TT Legends Perceptor on ebay, and their are a # of listings in the $20-35 range out of China, but all are using packaging shots that look authentic, are these probably KOs?

if it's a string of vendors that are all newly registered with single or double digit feedback with prices too good to be true, all using the same photo for their listings... it might just be a regular scam instead of a KO.

A lot of times you can order from them and never receive anything, then the seller is removed from ebay, then ebay still makes you wait to open a refund case until after the last possible estimated delivery date has past. So you wind up waiting 4-8 weeks to get your $35 back.

There's always the possibility you'll get the figure, or at least a figure, but if it's too good to be true, it might not be true. It really just depends on whether or not you care if you have $35 tied up for two months waiting for ebay to give you a refund.

I did end up ordering 5 of the minibots during the last 10% off coupon. Beachcomber, Powerglide, Seaspray, Yellow CJ, and Blue BB. I'll let everyone know how they are when they get here. I don't plan on opening them unless the packaging is FUBAR'd though.

Does anyone know if there were ever KOs of any of the Sixteams? I have half of the Sixwing team, but there aren't any HasTak markings that I can see. If it helps, they appear to be identical to the original release, just missing some stickers. I've had them for around 10 years.

So my G1 Minibot KOs came in. The packaging is pretty nice, and they all made it without any major damage. I ordered from two sellers, one single one where they guy shipped it in a padded envelope with a carboard bumper around the bubble of the card (and it surprisingly came with no major damage!) and the other 4 were from a seller that cut holes in styrofoam to fit each bubble, then more styrofoam around the cards. They arrived perfect.

Powerglide and Beachcomber have stickers and faded bubbles, the figures look spot on. Yellow CJ, Blue BB, and Seaspray all don't have stickers, but came with extra rubsigns in a bag with some free keychains (?). Seaspray's yellow seems a bit washed out, hes' the only one that really looks like a KO but I haven't owned a G1 seaspray in a long time, so who knows. Yellow CJ is in car mode and looks great, the blue BB's color looks a bit too dark but there isn't a real one to color match so I guess that works ok.

The packaging is spot on. There are probly minor differences (picture placement, color shades, etc) but without comparing them to authentic G1s the packaging is pretty great. The back of Seaspray's card seems like its not color matched correctly and the barcode is a tiny bit fuzzy, but it still displays well.

All in all, I think they're a good buy. Especially if you can get ones with good packaging (PM me if you want the name of the seller that packed mine well). For the price ($17 plus an ebay coupon to bring them down to ~$15) they're a good deal for what they are.

I'm going to go ahead and order the rest that are available and probly one extra of something to open and test quality. I'll update this thread once they've arrived. Outback is the Walmart version, he's just here to give an easy comparison.

Yes, there actually a lot of them, including vintage Korea ones that look nearly identical to the actual release.

Being KOs would explain the absence of markings. Thanks! I have not been able to find any concrete evidence that they were KOs 'till now.
