    Ummm,
I'll be interested to purchase a G1 Devastator (whenever I see a good one, for a good price on eBay), so I was wondering if anyone knew how the KO + original Devastators look like (if they don't tell me in the item listing it's KO of course)?
    many thanks

The KOs don't have chromed parts (or at least none of mine do)...Mixmaster's grill would be the easiest to spot.

The biggest difference with the Beachcomber is the colour of the figure. The KO version is very dark in colour, both the blue and the grey. I am unsure of what the difference is with the card backs.

These aren't KO's. These are conterfeits. There's a huge difference.

Sorry dude but NO differences at all has got to be viewed as a bad thing in the bigger picture. It might make you happy, displaying as if you have a vintage boxed figure (definately your own choice), but it will make many unsuspecting 'vintage mib soundwave' buyers very sad. There needs to be at least small differences or else real G1 collecting is DEAD.

i just don't understand why anyone would want to display an obvious fake as true vintage. and still pay a decent dollar for it.

everyone knows my stance on this so i won't continue. i'm just glad to see atleast some ppl here agree. but as the KO collectors say "its not my problem."

woah, that is a great vid. Thanks for posting it.

Personally I don't have any of the original stuff on hand for comparisons so there is no way for me to check the differences. I only have what I am told to go on.

I guess the question is where are these guys getting the boxes to duplicate in the first place. Seems odd that they would make something so very close to an original but leave out some very obvious things......like the does not play cassettes bit and the gray next to the devastator image. Those seem like very large descrepancies to me. Of course the boxes could have changed over the years and there could be different boxes depending on time of production as well. Could be they are using boxes that may or may not have shown up in the US. If you recall, the Soundwave released in China was a varation on the US box but with a sticker over certain parts of the box. Could be they are using one of those for a comparison, since they originate in China.

    Spencer.

The 'does not play cassettes' isn't on all of the originals.

that insert card wasn't included with all North American releases, my original from 1984 does not have one, and that "does not record or play casettes" isn't on all the original boxes.

like i said, i didn't have one on hand to compare like he did, i used online images.

the blue on the back wording "transformers" and the box being a little shorter are always good ways to spot a fake

The easiest tell IMO, you can sometimes spot just by looking at the thumbnail. The 'Trans' and/or 'Formers' on the boxflap are misaligned. The F is supposed to line up with the inner leg of the A; on the KO boxes, the F lines up with the descender on the R. Particularly helpful when all they show is the front of the box and you can't see the exaggerated flap crease or spot the color difference due to bad lighting or somesuch.

    Real.
