Actually, I think someone said that the difference on all the packaging was that the cardboard used for the boxes and cardbacks is thinner than the original. Not a big deal if you're just using it for display, but kinda crappy if someone tries to pass it off as an original box.

well, compared to my remake swoop box, the soundwave box is FAR superior in quality, texture and sheen. if i didn't know the remake sw box was a remake, and knew only the remake swoop box was, comparing the two, i'd have to say the sw box was an original. scarry, maybe, but i don't really care about de-valueing toys and whatnot everyone else seems upset about. it LOOKS like a G1 box, and thats all i ever wanted. remake or not. i'm very very happy

AFAIK, just the box. If they don't produce it now, they'll just do it down the line when the TRU and Takara reissues have dried up.

There were both variations on the original Swoop. Some had the straight wings, and some had the bent wings. There were also several different copyright stampings on the originals. Not sure which copyright stamping was used on the fake Swoops, but if someone can confirm which wings and which copyright stamp was used on the fakes, that would be quite helpful.

For info on the different variations of G1 Swoop, check out Freds Workshop. Here is the link http://www.geocities.com/futuristgroup/vdinobot.html#swoop

HAd the chance to diligently (sp?) compare a g1 rumble with the remake rumble. the details are finer and more pronounced on the remake, however the remake weapons DO NOT WORK with the G1 versions. both the weapons and the toy are about 5% bigger due to the reverse engeneering they must have done, wich explains why the stickers on mine don't seem to line up with the parts.

on the clear part of beak the tear drop end is slightly larger than the original

the bubble insert for original covers the whole backer card, the KO only outlines around swoop

    Identifying Fake/Real G1

I have recently purchased a G1 Override MOSC. There are some Chinese word stickers on the card but the seller said it is there for the Chinese market. Can anyone tell me how to identify whether its a real or fake G1? Or is it a bootleg?

it's hard to place these. they came out while G1 was in production, but continued well after. these ones with the stickers on them were considerd authentic untill recently when they were discovered to be unauthorised, and now are considered by many to be knockoffs (but not me) i think they are just unauthorised pressings.

but yeah, this belongs in the other thread.

Sorry for putting the thread in the wrong place.

Thanks for the replies. However, I still don't know whether its fake/bootleg or not. I don't get it why a Chinese sticker is put on the card instead of something else. Like, if they are trying to deceive people, why putting a Chinese sticker on?

the sticker was actually put on for the chineese market. As these were meant for a NA market. early analysis has these chinese stickerd G1 toys as authentic hasbro product, however, with the recent production of these toys, WITHOUT the sticker has placed them by most people as knockoffs, or pirated.

some have said that the molds are actually hasbro molds that were left in the factories. Hasbro sold the factories off, and the now chinese ownd factories are pumping these out. i consider these unauthorised G1 product, pirated if you will, but no way considered a KO.

do people make less-obvious KOs of other lines besides G1?
    i.e. similar boxes?

Got the info on the Mirage, should be the next few weeks when they start to show.

Devastator will be next month with about $160 price tag, ouch.

Well there goes that idea, if I watch ebay close enough I could find a real set for that much.

That was my issue as well. I have been trying to talk to these guys about how they are pricing their figures but it is insisted that with the low runs of them, they need to recoup all the cost as quick as possible so they price them very high. Mirage looks to be about as much as the swoop, perhaps a little more I am told.

While it is nice to have new figures and all, it would also be very nice to have them at the japanese reissue price of around $35 to $40. $60 just seems a little much to pay for an autobot car.

With the Devastator, it will come in a great looking box set with the foam insert and everything. Very excited about that. If we are lucky they will do a great Diaclone version of this with the blue pieces. Man I would love to get my hands on a real one of those. I would buy the KO one for $160 if it was done like that.

    Spencer.

Well I just got an email that in addition to Mirage and Devastator there will also be a Wheeljack in July, so they are at least focusing on the toys that seem to be most wanted.
