Anyone know how to spot a fake MOC bumblebee? Did the G1 figures ever have their toes pointed down on the card?

On the original, the bubble was right up to the bottom-right corner of the card. On the knockoff there is a lot more buffer room.

I'm 99% sure the answer is yes. The lettering appears to be off too.

Might Gaine and i have disagreed about this in the past, and i may be in the wrong about it, but even the colors surrounding BBs artwork on the front look a little off to me.

OK, thanks. You probably just saved me $80. Now I get to retract a bid. Whee!

Oh, also, the hole punch is shifted a bit. I forgot about that.

I'm certain that's the knockoff. The bubble should be right up against the corner for it to be real.

I couldn't find a real US Bumblebee picture off the cuff, but here is a Mexican Cliffjumper that demonstrates where the bubble is supposed to be on the card:
    http://www.toyarchive.com/Transformers/CliffjumperBlueMOSC1.html

As you can see, it's right up against the edge there, past where the grid ends. I'm pretty sure the hole punch is supposed to be more to the left as shown in the Cliffjumper picture as well.

You're welcome! I don't want to be too specific in case bootleggers are watching, but there's a combination of things on that photo you attached which make it look rather suspect.

    No ill will here sir!

The sad part is that the guy selling bought it thinking it was real, and is now selling it as real without really knowing. He is going to be pissed.

They are worth about $20, no more than that.

If you ever need good images of the KO ones, you can check our site or just ask for images. We have a new section on the site specificly for these KO toys.

These are some good images there and we will get all the selection that they are going to do so you can always check it to see if it has been done. If it has, I am hoping to stock it.

He He, The pic of the KO Bumblebee shows an upsidedown faction symbol. I like that you have a big pic on there so you can really see the detail on them.

I ordered the KO Ratbat/Frenzy from you and was impressed. I knew I was ordering a KO since it seemed a better option then vintage to me. Just need some reprolabels for the little guys. Thanks for making these available and for a reasonable price.

One thing that I noticed when compareing my KO Swoop to my original, is that the grey plastic is a bit off, as well as the chrome is also colored slightly differently. The red plastic is a bit lighter, and more rubbery. The one major difference that I noticed (although it may be a varient of the molds) is that my KO Swoops wings dont fold all the way back, they are desinged so they only go a certain distance. My original Swoops wings go all the way onto his back.

Does anyone know if the KO bumblebee has tires with the original Dunlop logo or smooth tires like the official keychain reissue?

Also, has anyone spotted any differences on the KO Beachcomber?

IIRC there are some molding differences on the toy itself.

Something else I found out recently. They use a really cheap black ink on the stickers. The ink has poor adherence and rubs off a LOT easier than the real stickers. Beware of those KO sticker sheets that are copied directly off the originals. If I'm gonna get repro stickers I'll just go with Reprolabels - they look nice and are very durable.

EDIT: apparently, this is not consistant. It happens on the stickers with the really shiny foil but the matte foil stickers don't rub off as easily. I did notice that some of the cassette stickers also have poor quality adhesive on the back so that they fall off almost immediately - again this is hit-or-miss, though.

I really need to get all this information compiled into one single post...

I want to get a KO bumblebee and KO Beachcomber to compare to the originals.

The biggest differences is the colour of the plastic on the figure. Both the yellow and the blue are much darker than the original ones.

The tires on both of them do have the Dunlop on them.

Are you saying that the Beachcomber tires are the Dunlop tires or just the tires on Bumblebee? The original Beachcomber didn't have the Dunlop tires, so that would be another indicator if that is the case.

I just recieved my Soundwave box from A3U and i have compared it to every pic i can find of an original one on line and i can't say i can see any difference. even in the styrophoam insert. not having an original to compare texture and cardboars to, i am VERY VERY VERY happy with the purchase. Soundwave was my first TF ever in 1984 and i've been after a C-10 box for him for years. even though this is a remake, it's well worth the $35 for the box. now all i need is the instruction book.

Was there an actual KO of the Soundwave toy or did they just do the box and insert on this one? It would seem like a waste to do a KO for Soundwave when Takara keeps doing official reissues...

just the box, just as it was in 1984.

a BIG sep up from the Prime KO boxes. i can't wait for the wheeljack and sunstreaker Ko's to come out.
