    Hello... long time no see.

Been shopping TFs again now that Classics have hit the shelves. Was looking forward to picking up at least a Prime, Grimlock and maybe Hot Rod.

I have been less than impressed with the quality of the figs I've seen... mainly Prime and Bumblebee. The paint applications are horrible.

On Bumblebee... stray paint on the windshield, thin paint on the roof, or globs of paint on the roof.

On Prime, chipped paint, uneven paint, what looks like attempts to fix flaws.

Prime was one I thought I wanted for sure. So far, I've seen five, and not bought one. What's the deal? Why is Hasbro trying to do things - like using painted clear plastics - when it seems they are unable or unwilling to pull it off properly?

Maybe I'm expecting too much. After all, they're just toys.

All mine are perfect (Enitre Wave 1). Sorry to hear that about yours but on the bumblebee I have heard of this on another thread. You can clearly see the roof and winshield threw the plastic bubble. So go out and get another without the problems.

My prime and megs i got from bbts were horrible...that is why I opened them and bought new ones that i found at TRU that looked good. My megatrons wings had big scratches in them and prime had chips and touch ups that were done poorly.

I've seen examples with rough paint. I guess there's the main advantage to patience and getting from a brick'n'mortar store. If there's multiples of a toy, you can look through them to find the best example.

My Bumblebee looked flawless on his card but when I changed him into robot mode there was a large wad of "gunk" on the back of the passenger side seat, it looked and felt like adhesive residue left behind when you peel a sticker off.

When I cleaned it off there was no silver paint under it leaving a large black blotch in the shape of a seven on it.

The other bumblebee I saw in the store had a really bad paint bubble on his roof leaving the clear plastic underneath exposed.

My classics Rodimus seems to suffer from under-painting, his flame and headlight paint apps are so thin you can see the red plastic underneath, most of the Astrotrains I saw had chips in the painted areas too.

Don't get me wrong, I love this line but it does seem there are quite a few QC issues with it.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations...the QC on mine is pretty decent...well the paint apps are fine anyway...Rodimus and Astrotrain are pretty floppy but I think that's fairly widespread. Hopefully you can find some that meet your standards, they incredible toys.

QC on tf's are wacky as it is. I just bought a Cybertron Swindle, only to find that his face paint is scrapped off.....
As far as Classics, I saw three Bumblebees all with bad paint apps on the car...

My Rodimus was missing the pins in both elbows. The forearms just fell off the first time I tried to tf him. Grabbed my wiresnips and a paperclip and now he's good to go, but come ON. Lame.

I haven't bought any classics yet, and am beginning to wonder if I should even bother, given the apparent horrible, haphazard, shoddy, etc. painting of these figs.

I so wanted a Prime. Went to TRU with my 10 percent off coupon and all. Saw deals where I could get a free Cyberton scout fig. But I don't want to bring home something I'm not going to be happy with.

And if I see problems with the parts I can see in the package, how much more can be screwed up on the parts I can't see???

So far, I haven't noticed many problems with the Hot Rod and Starscream figs. Haven't looked that closely at Astrotrain to see if that one has issues. But Prime and Bumblebee are apparently just plagued with problems. And Prime was the one I wanted most!

Problem is, where I've seen Prime, there's been at most two. So not a lot to choose between. But I can wait, and keep looking. Hopefully a decent one will turn up.

QC is definitely a problem in this wave. However, like Titaniums, I think they're learning from their mistakes. Plus, not every figure can be perfect.

I got lucky with mine, as they're pretty much A-OK.

Although Rodimus has stress marks on the balljoints for his arms.

My Prime is kind of fucked up. The painted blue translucent part facing the back of the box doesn't have enough paint on it to completely cover the blue. It's not something you can see when looking at it through the box window. And the yellow on his right arm is pretty chipped.

My Megatron is perfectly fine though.

Only irritating thing so far is Astrotrains shoulders are way loose. Easy to fall off, and hard to put back on.

After hearing so many Bumblebee problems, I looked over mine again.
The white pinstriping is smudged in a few areas. Not that bad though

My Starscream has two left or right guns, whatever, but he has both of the same one.

A guy that is friends with my co-worker has a Bumblebee with a fudged up nose.

Don't forget Starscream's unpainted face on every released fig that we know of.

I didn't have problems that I don't see with every line.

As for the paint, Hasbro's white and yellow paints have sucked for about two years now, going back AT LEAST to Cybertron Clocker.

The paint apps do seem kinda cruddy, I don't have anything major, but all of them look like I could scrape the paint apps off quite easily with my thumbnail. Starscream's shoulder paint (blue on the back) is kinda shoddy, mainly because the back half is painted and the front half is not. It tends to look uneven. Rest of his red paint I'm removing anyway, so that doesn't matter much.

However, I did notice that inside the elbow joints, they didn't shave the treebreak points very cleanly, and the side of the jet where the arms are stuck out a little. Went in with an exacto knife and cleaned them off just fine, but considering the other joint is clean and flat, that was kinda sloppy.

Nothing else, though. And I'm loving the three I've got ('Bee, Roddy and 'Screamer.)
