Sorry if a thread for this already exists. I own the Universe Classics Galvatron and the Generations Scourge as well as the Combiner Wars Cyclonus and the Titans Return Galvatron. If I were to either get Universe Cyclonus or Titans Return Scourge (to finish each trio) who would you recommend? Which set of figures (Generations Galvatron, Cylonus and Scourge or CW Cyclonus and TR Galvatron and Scourge) looks best together?

 

I'd mix it up and go with TR Galvatron, Universe Cyclonus, and either Gen or TR Scourge (whichever design you prefer)

Yeah, this. It's been my planned setup since the new Galvatron was announced.

 

I know a lot of people hate the old Galvatron mold, but those three deluxes look REALLY good together. They just do.

 

I like them all together actually....

 

You seem to want to have a trio of toys belonging to the same generation, but most people will recommend you different choices.

Classics Galvatron is largely hated, due to him being a big disappointment when he was out. They just shouldn't have reduced his size. The tank is halfway realistic, halfway futuristic, it just makes no sense. I do not think that he has aged well: with the new Titans Galvatron, who is a firm toy and looks imposing and close to his original G1 form, that tank thing is basically pointless.

I'm with Sideways77: Titans Galvatron, Classics Cyclonus and Titans Scourge (either Takara or Hasbro versions of each).

Combiner Cyclonus is fine as well. I find the Galvatron combiner torso thing pointless, but you can ignore it altogether and just use him as Cyclonus, which I guess is just fine.

Also, classics Scourge is a very good toy on his own: the design is good and consistent, and he looks very good in robot mode.

 

I'd have to say TR does the best for Galvatron and Scourge so far. Universe Galvatron SHOULD have been Voyager originally. Generations Scourge is alright though since its good troop building for the Sweeps. Though comparing Universe vs CW Cyclonus is a no contest for cartoon accuracy.

Which given some liberties because of toy design and deco presents a near perfect match with Universe.

Yet strangely comparing animation models that were used for Cyclonus I found some interesting similarities where it seems CW has traits found in the first animation model that Starscream's Ghost used with even some coincidental bits from G1's boxart.

Its seems that the helmet, head and lips take some form from here for CW.

Might be grasping at straws on this one yet it seems they took the purple from this one along making his body more bulked up in comparison to the final model. Even a chest detail found in the boxart is loosely present on CW if you look hard.

Personally I'd hope for a new Titan Returns Cyclonus, even if its more based on IDW for a Oni/Samurai detailing motif, to come out in a new mold. I'd hope for Voyager, while tossing out the triple changer aspect and replacing the spring loaded helmet with the Leader class styled helmets since it didn't work well on Galvatrons final, yet since we've got the entire triple changer decepticon lineup with their pretools, Alpha Trion & Broadside coming for our voyager waves he might just be deluxe sized. Hopefully a new mold regardless to add to our Cyclonus Armada ranks.

I have RTS Cyclonus but he acts as Cyclonus' Armada.

 

Generations Cyclonus and Scourge hands down. I have that turd generations galvatron but wish mania king was in his place. Its ok cause dx9 made tyrant so im good
