I want to light this really nice smelling candle, but I'm not sure if it will be damaging to my figures. Can someone help me out, it says soy wax on it maybe that will help? Also do they create smoke? Cause I heard smoke can be damaging to figures. Thanks to everyone.

When people refer to smoke damage on figures, they're mainly referring to cigarette smoke which can leave this nasty residue on things. I think a candle should be alright.

if its just once it should be more then fine, if your worried just air them out afterwards or in a few days just do the sniff test

Is it date night? If so, turn the figures the other way around so it doesn't feel like they are watching...and judging.

I'm actually curious about this as well as I light candles in my room. Doesn't seem like a big deal, I'd say.

This has never been an issue for me, and I light candles almost every night.

Of course, always make sure you're in a ventilated room, obviously.

Candles do actually burn both the wax and the wick and can deposit soot and wax nearby if you have them going a lot (very small amounts of each but they are not completely "deposit free"). Aromatic/scented candles also contain scented oils which may be deposited as a residue.
I think if you are just doing it very rarely and the candle is no-where near the figures you're probably okay but if you have the candle on the same shelf or you have them going all the time, you may want to keep an eye on things.
To be honest, unless your figures are sealed away in an airtight cabinet, you're going to get dust, lint, pet hair etc on them no matter what you do. Even Detolfs aren't air tight without modification.
Of course dust is a lot easier to clean off than wax.
It also depends on what you're worried about. Unless you're collecting MISB pretty much any modern figure will lose some value being on display. Most modern figures are produced in much too great a quantity to have any real rarity value and collectors are a lot more savvy than they were in the 80's so I doubt even MP's will increase in value. If you're collection is meant to be a financial investment they probably should be sealed away in air-tight storage. Me, I collect for fun, so less worried about that kind of thing.
Short answer, for a one-off I wouldn't worry but if you have candles going constantly yu may want to keep an eye on your collection and see how you go.

a little known fact is, if you smoke in a room and light a medium sized candle (scented or not), the smokey smell wont be that bad at all. I did that all the time when I had an apartment in college and I was a smoker

How about frying a steak and the smell permeates all through your house. How about curry??
