Hi guys, been out of the loop recently due to work and was wondering if I've missed any announcement about a Hasbro MP Shockwave being a thing. With all the conventions going on I didn't know if anything had been said about it.

That's funny. No way will Hasbro do a MP Shockwave... Unless they flip him over and call him a boat.

 

He is a bright lavender space laser. It could happen. I don't think US toy gun laws will matter because his gun mode is totally unrealistic. If it does happen, TRU will probably want $180 for it.

 

It doesn't matter if the weapon mode is "unrealistic". What matters is whether stores would be willing to stock it even if it was legal.

 

They stock Nerf guns...

 

I think a Hasbro MP Shockwave is more likely than not. I'd expect him to be next year tho. Im guessing $100. Im also hoping that they do a darker color.

Im praying for a US Ultra Magnus for this holiday season.

 

Some of which look more like real weapons than Shockwave or Classics Nerf Megatron

 

And apparently Hasbro can't even release Classics Nerfgun Megatron anymore.

Unless Shockwave is colored bright neon orange, don't hold your breath on a US release.

However sixshots gunmode is being flipped upside down and called a submarine, so who knows.

 

They need to do an ultra magnus before shockwave imho

Well, Shockwave would at least need a barrel end made out of unpaintable orange plastic.



Any of these color schemes should work for Shockwave. Note the orange barrels on all of these.

 

I just hope Hasbro gives us MP Coneheads so we don't have to get bent over for TT's mall exclusives.

 

Yes, and Hasbro's taken advantage of that by releasing how many Nerf-like Transformers over the years?

Releases don't show any connection between what Hasbro can do with Nerf and what they can do with Transformers. We've gotten all of one Nerf gun Transformer a decade ago, and its only reuse in the US didn't come until this year.

That's a ridiculously quick turnaround for Hasbro to release a Shockwave, given we're just barely getting a Bumblebee and have yet to see Magnus, Tracks, Ironhide/Ratchet or Hot Rod (and that's not even touching the Lambos, Smokescreen, Wheeljack, Star Saber, or more Seekers). Each of those options is either as or more popular and/or has an easier license. Each release is also a helluva lot easier for TRU to take on then any issues that come with gun Shockwave.

If Shockwave happens in the US, it happens, and good for those that didn't pick up the Takara version and can manage to save some money. I just don't see any evidence to expect it anytime soon, if ever, without Hasbro or retailers changing their approach to gun-like anythings.

Was it? I recall even the mods on the TFW podcast repeating that they recall hearing for themselves at some previous convention Hasbro people saying they couldn't go back to the Nerf Megs mold. Clearly yes, something changed very recently, but I never understood that notion to be fan assumption that just morphed into "fact." I can't track the source of when it was said/documented, so I can't say it with 100% certainty, but I thought this was more than just rumor for a long time.

They can, and have. Also, all they'd have to do is paint a portion of the barrel Orange. But still, I don't see them bothering because of that simple fact ruining the figure deco.

Plus the Legends RTS Megatron being a pistol.

 

It'll prolly follow just after Hasbro officially announces both Hasbro MP Sideswipe and Hasbro MP Red Alert availability at TRU...

 

I aint holding out hope for a 'better' Shockwave out of Hasbro.

Was a time Hasbro went more toy oriented deco for their MPs, and I hoped for a MP Starscream with a nice deep, dark blue like the toy, but nope. Same as the Takara release. Hell, all their MP releases in recent years are the same as Takara. So I aint expecting any nice, dark purple Shockwave outta them. Love to proved wrong.

 

I'd definitely be game for a Hasbro MP Red Alert since he's one of the MP's that's still missing from my collection.

To the original topic, I'd potentially purchase a Hasbro MP Shockwave if he's a good price and a darker purple, much like the original toy. I really do like my Takara MP Shockwave, but he's more "Robotech Invid Shock Trooper toy" purple than "classic Shockwave toy" purple, IMHO.

I'm thinking MP UM will be out just before 4th of July 2017. Red, white and blue is a very patriotic color scheme for US Transformer fans.
