I have always tried to stick with deluxe but after seeing Titans return Megatron I am branching out to collect more voyagers. Anyone else branching out for the voyager gems as of late?
When i started i tried to keep my collection legends and deluxes only, but its just not feasable being kind of a completist in collecting a updated G1 shelf.
My rule for voyagers is: Leaders like Prime, Combiner Torsos, and Megs;Triple Changers; Blaster and Soundwave since other characters have to fit inside them; or if the character was big in the show(SkyLynx/UM)
I buy characters in the size I think they oughta be in. Like, I LOVE Powermaster Optimus Prime, but CW Prime is still my "main" Optimus because he's more in-scale, and I want Titans Return Megatron for similar reasons. Conversely, I thought Voyager Brainstorm was an amazing toy, but...Brainstorm just isn't that big, guys, especially not now that EVERY OTHER G1 Headmaster is a Deluxe. So I guess my point is "I'll buy a Voyager if the character is supposed to be a Voyager".
I always collect Voyagers to go with my Deluxes and Legends. The height differences for each character can add a lot of dynamics to the overall cast or group of figures in a collection.
My very first voyager was Ironhide during the first movie. Since then I at least will get the deluxes and voyagers. Right now I collect voyagers but I make sure to buy the deluxes and legends first since they are cheaper. At most I can buy one voyager every other weekend, the money left over allows me to get one deluxe or two legends.
I'm primarily a Deluxe guy, but sometimes you can't avoid getting a different size if it's a character you want or need.
I based my collection scale on Hegemon which is large voyager sized. So Prime, triple changers, seekers, etc. need to be voyagers. Leader is good for big bots like magnus or jetfire, deluxe for regular cars, legends for bumblebee\cliffjumper\insecticons etc. I have a lot of third party figures so there are some in-between size class figures like unique toys blaster (between deluxe and voyager) or the igear mini bots (between legends and deluxe). I also like the original cassette size so I have a mix of G1, MP and 3rd party there.
Nope, I get what I like, exclusing legends/cyberverse (the smaller size) and titans (too big). And even then in those classes I tend to pick up a figure sometimes.
That's exactly what it is it makes reference to the specific size not it's relation to the other. Cw prowl would scale well with tr Megatron but you wouldn't see him in a voyager box. I steered clear of voyagers for years cw/tr made offers I couldn't refuse
Really wish someone would re-engineer the Classics Seekers as Voyagers; cannot find any Voyager Seekers that I like the aesthetics of. The only drawback to Voyager Seekers though is I'd have to upgrade my Henkei Skyfire to that trash Leader Class mold.
If we are lucky someone will KO the MP Seekers and downsize them. There is also the inevitable MT Voy Seekers. And there is a good chance imo Hasbro will do Voy Seekers for the line following Titans Returns.
Voyager is probably my favorite size class. Now that you have gotten into them, I would recommend you go back and get Generations Springer, Sandstorm, Whirl, and Roadbuster.
