In hindsight, was it worth buying expensive Botcon toys?

Like whom? 07 Thundercracker and Generations TC were the same mold. Dirge and Ramjet had unique club toolings. Kup is a young version. The Generations version is a better toy but its also not the same concept. Scourge and his sweeps are nice. I still display one of them as SG Scourge. The Generations figure probaby captures the look better, so there's one so far. Banzaitron? I'd say the Botcon figure is better any day. Pretty sure that's it. I regret none of them. As far as club offerings go, we have Chromedome, Rewind and Slipstream (by Takara). I'd say each version is as nice as the other. Runabout and Runamuck are no contest. Am I forgetting anyone?

It only wasn't worth buying them if you bought them with the intent of reselling them.

If like myself you appreciate the different versions of the characters, then it was worth every penny.

I don't think I really regret any of the Con/Club toys I've bought, though I can understand how someone can, especially if they're in it mostly for the classics/generations-type stuff that was or potentially will be 'supplanted' by a more fitting original toy. Personally, I prefer the Botcon '07 Thrust design to the Generation version. Things like the 2006 "Pre-Beast Wars" set, the 2011 Animated stuff, and others are special and relatively fresh or original, and less likely to be replaced, and where I think FunPub and similar exclusive items stood out the best.

I think the only people who would feel "burned" would be those who thought there wasn't going to be any future versions of the big name characters, which is a weird thought to have.

The closest I'd say is when they had them on sale (many years ago), I got the Springer/Huffer Timelines set. While that Huffer is still my Neo-G1 Huffer, Springer was less about being Springer and more that I really quite liked the Exkaiser/CD Hot Shot mold, but in application, I didn't really do much with it in terms of display.

The Games of Deception Set, while I did get the later Generations Seekers, those became "background" Seekers for my Seeker shelf, along with the first Classics Starscream and Acid Storm.

I will admit, I'd like to "retire" Deathsaurus with a new, intentionally Deathsaurus figure, but it's also been 11 years, so it's not like I haven't had time to enjoy it as I wait.

Everything else I have I'm happy with for what they are and even if they did do new ones, I wouldn't mind, such as Animated Autotroopers.
