I picked up my first Titans Return figure (Hardhead, and I love him) and it got me thinking of what Hasbro's planning after this line. I don't think it'll be the third part of the Prime Wars, but I wonder of Hasbro's testing the waters for a M.A.S.K. revival. Think about it, you've got tiny figures driving bigger vehicles, including the smaller ones where the vehicles change into other vehicles. I wouldn't think that, if there wasn't such a big play pattern designed specifically for the smaller figures. I may just be looking too much into it, but I really do hope this turns into a new line for M.A.S.K. someday soon.
Hasbro has been using tiny drivers off and on for years now. The last time it was a line wide gimmick was the first edition of Star Wars Crossover toys. But the recent Marvel Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy toys featured micro figures that fit into vehicles as well.
I didn't think of those lines, but with Transformers having a bigger connection to M.A.S.K. through their Revolution line, not to mention the similarly-transforming vehicles, I still would like to think of it as a step closer to M.A.S.. coming back. Please, Hasbro!
I think you have to realize that the initiative by IDW at reviving these properties is much less geared at future toys and much more geared at Hasbro trying to reorient themselves as an IP farm that develops and licenses out these properties to the studios and other businesses.
