We're disregarding completely new characters for this discussion.

It seems that every time a new Titan Master figure is announced, people complain that they should have had a full sized body instead of just being a head. The problem with that is that there is only a certain number of new molds that can be made and head only Titan Master figures need to exist.

So which characters would be acceptable as being Titan Master toys?

Make his head mode a cat-head, and if you're generous make his Titan Master vehicle a cat and I will be infinitely happy. If Hasbro is a god then they'll make him turn from a head to a jaguar, but that seems excessive.

 

On the bolded part...do they? If they do NEED to exist, new characters would seem fine. They are by no means required to pull from existing characters that had actual full-on bodies to fill out the Titanmaster size class.

As for existing characters, the original, mini-figure only Headmaster Warriors (Lione, Kirk and that bunch) and Godmaster/Masterforce Warriors (Zetca/Aquastar/Bullet) make sense.

There's also a new character standing in as a reference for the Animated Headmaster too.

 

None. Full bodies for everyone.

 

Oh, and I'd be happy getting a ROM Spaceknight as a Titan Master. Since his form is about human size anyway, I rather like the idea of him body-jacking a TF rather than having his own transtector.

I'd reaaaally like a Hunter O'Nion that turns into a Sunstreaker head, even if there's no full body. And a Henry Masterson, CLEARLY.

 

I'd prefer they stuck to the Japanese head-only figures, like Leonine, for the head-only sets.

That said, I think I would've dug the Targetmasters and Powermasters as Titanmasters. Have the bodies look like the TMs and the heads look like the faces of those guys. The vehicles would take cues from their vehicle modes.

Then that would've left room in the deluxe range for all Headmasters and Junior Headmasters to get proper treatment...with the idea that we'd eventually revisit the TM and PM characters again down the line. that way, if we did get a proper Pointblank toy without his Targetmaster, you have the Titanmaster to fall back on.

 

Characters that weren't originally headmasters, plus of course variant heads.

Optimus and Blurr at least have name recognition plus there's the original film anniversary so it isn't strange that they'd be updated with a gimmick they didn't have in G1. Replacing obscure characters with obscure characters just seems strange. Why Doublecross but not Fangry? Unless of course Doublecross is redone into Fangry.

I mean come on, this is the perfect way to get minor characters some toy love. It's not rocket science, people. As many as possible, and in as great numbers as possible.

 

There's a lot of good suggestions in this thread, but this gets my vote.

 

actually, the Head-only figures would be a decent place to drop in some 84/85 cast (think: ones not done in CW) that you need to keep in circulation for Trademark purposes... Bluestreak (<-- + easy repaints), Hoist, Inferno, Sideswipe, Red Alert and the like.

I'd be much more ok with them doing those types of characters then giving us heads for characters who've never gotten a proper CHUG update like the HM Jrs. (redoing the Japan-Exclusive Headmasters is brilliant too)

+ release the alternate Japanese heads for the 87 crew!

 

Obscure comic &or toon only characters...such as Firestar...as well as the HM Warriors...and...toss in the Animated HM...then maybe the Big 4 of Op, Megs, Starscream & BB...

 

Assuming we would actually get the full sized body of the other guys, these guys would be the most logical choice for head only characters:

The Japanese Headmaster heads, and new characters. That's all I'd be interested in.

 

Well we are getting new names like Loudmouth, Crashbash, Clobber and Ptero but recognition sells. People are more likely to buy Clobber just because they recognise his head mode as being Grimlock than if the toy had a completely new head design unrelated to any other character.

Overboard is kind of a new character but its the mini dino that he is packaged with that looks like Overkill that would attract people's interest. Ideally, the Overboard Titan Master figure should have been repainted from Clobber to resemble the Overkill repaint of Classics Grimlock. Not that Classics Overkill is very well known.

 

Shockwave. He's been just a head multiple times in the fiction, plus hijacking another character's body seems like something he'd do anyway.

 

Exactly that. Making Dinobots as Heads and nothing else seems so far beyond pointless it's actual trolling. No Generations Dinobots beyond Grimmy but they think these are suitable?

And before anyone bleats in with "it's for Kids innit!!" - kids with little to no connection to the franchise won't care who they are anyway so make them as above if you have to have them at all. Don't give me a Swoop I can do sod all with except play Hamlet.

 

Master Warriors Kirk, Rodney, Loafer, Lione, Toraizer, & Shuffler. Thats it.

Oh wait I'd also take a release of Hardhead without the mouth plate & Chromedome without the IDW influence as well.

All the others so far have pissed me off. Apeface is a triple changer so he SHOULD of gotten a voyager in this line. Brawn needs to be a Legend to complete the 84 Minibots. Overback/Kill should of been a cassette for Soundwave. Swoop & Grimlock need actual bodies, their Dinobots! Come on! And the others need bodies cause they could easily knock out every Headmaster but they aren't. At least with the Master Warriors they were originally only heads so these I'm okay with. Right now out of the first 3 waves I'm only getting Sawback.
