With the apparent success of Cybertron Con in Shanghai, do you think that Cybertron Con will be the venue of choice by Hasbro/Takara to announce new toy releases and first looks? This is if they wont be bringing back Botcon.... Your thoughts? =)
I feel like they'll always want to announce things spread out at different points of the year. So at least NY is safe. I also think Hasbro will always want to get direct feedback from the American audience. Plus, SDCC is probably the biggest mecca for the overall entertainment world on the planet. So I don't see them abandoning that, either. But we'll see.
It is about making the china market feel special. Hasbro knows Sdcc and botcon is full of addicts already so they only get a little something something to tide them over. They save the huge g1 statues, massive g1 artwork backdrops and huge Fort Max light up climbing funhouse for the Chinese. Sorry guys.
Plus, wasn't this the first of this particular con held in China, and they undoubtedly wanted to give it a huge push?
No because what they are really doing here is spacing out the announcements. Half the new stuff was announced in SDCC (Gnaw, Bee, Megatron, Leokaiser) and the other half was announced in Cybertron Con (Kickback, Optimus Prime, Sixshot, Rodimus). Basically to give every venue a taste so to speak. Toyfair will probably get something too (probably Brawn, Quickswitch or Overlord and Kup).
In the tourism industry, Americans have been replaced as the most annoying ones. Guess who? Times are changing. While Canada always plays it safe.
There was similar thread made by Nevermore. I replied almost the same way. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...o-how-much-did-hasbro-cut-back-publicity.html How much advertising/publicity went the East? Did Manila also always get stuff first? I noticed that you guys sometimes (more often than previous years) do.
Hasbro will always be at Toy Fair, but possibly less at SDCC. in past years they didn't show much at NYCC but last year they showed more at NYCC than they did at SDCC.
