You predicted something that already happened. Just look at Wave 1 prices on eBay or Amazon.

I've got mixed feelings. I think CW will start to spike at some point and for some figures like Sky Lynx it's already going up (ditto for Quickslinger and. Breakneck).
I have a slight hope for a spike just because I'll have an extra Onslaught from TF source (I opted for the set of two with Sky Lynx to get free shipping with discounted Carry and because I wanted Skylynx). On the other hand from the perspective of someone who sometimes does get older figures off of ebay and such and having seen some of the ridiculous prices for Universe figures before the MP's struck hard I hope it doesn't happen too soon, especially since customizers seem to really be having fun with CW figures. I myself kinda wanna learn to do customs and maybe make a Medix out of First Aid since I have the preassembled Ratchet and I realize it'll suck if these things command a hig price.

Yup. I've been keeping a casual eye out for Alpha Bravo but he's like $30+ for some strange reason. [I thought everybody hated the guy?]

Once a line has officially ended, I've seen spikes is prices and demand. Been in since mid 80's and you're right, it's just getting worse

I think its awesome that the early waves are spiking. It shows the line was a success and fans are excited. Yeah, it sucks for collectors who just want to complete their collections but it's a clear indicator that the franchise is healthy (IMO). Kudos to HasTak for really igniting the fandom with this line even if they were "late to the party" that 3P started. I can't wait for TR to move into full swing. And then see what part 3 of the Prime Wars brings us.

Yeah I don't know. I don't have a single CW tf. The one I did have - leader class Skywarp broke instantly. The shoulder connection literally came apart. Broken plastic. Unrepairable, and refunded. I was underwhelmed anyway. It's hard to say with modern tfs about future value. As far as I could tell, none of the figures in this line were/are difficult to aquire online for retail, or alittle higher, if that even matters for determining future worth. I'm not a hater by any means, I'm just content with my g1 combiners and have a bunch. I do plan on getting the UW computron set. It looks fantastic, and is the best one so far out of the entire line.(imo) Plus I've never had a complete computron, so I'm pretty excited to finally get one.

Yep, same core transformation with same robot mode placement for the most part.

Anyway, like all Transformers lines that comes to an end. There are always going to be some figures that will have more demand afterwards.

Sure. A few of the early guys (and last year's web exclusives) are selling well above retail but my guess/discussion point was whether or not, with some characterization, people might reach back for figures that they missed and drive up the secondary market.

Well, as Jetbolt pointed out, they share engineering, like all the early BW flip changers. In the case of Razorbeast and Rattrap, they're extremely similar in the way the beast mode ends up as a shell on their backs.

So you think that there will be no special impact from the cartoon and these toys finally getting characterization?

Then again, the preview of the CW Cartoon wasn't much to write home about.

The cartoon isn't going to have a huge impact long term. This isn't going to be a series like G1, Beast Wars, and Animated. It's not going to be something that last seasons with a toy line out to go with it. This show is coming out just as Combiner Wars is being replaced by Titan Returns.

For older collectors, much of the demand was nostalgic driven. Which is why some wanted a deluxe Slingshot, Wildrider, and Groove over Alpha Bravo, Offroad, and Rook. Along with some going for the more G1 decos of the Takara releases. By now many has gotten what they wanted or on the verge of doing so.

But now with younger fans in the future, it's going to be other reasons. Like getting what the parents didn't buy them at the time. Rebuying figures they broke/lost as a child.
