As a character designer for my own stuff, this quote is the #1 thing I ask myself: If I am designing a character for a story, or be used as a mascot, portions of this come into play. And when you are doing stuff like I have on PlayStation Home, all of this comes into play. However, despite the fact I am catching up here, there are two things you need to know: 1) NOTHING in the line is the "definite" version of the character. So be prepared to see them decide to re-release a character because the scale is not "series accurate", they think they can improve things on the previous mold, or a new designer is tasked to redesign it for another reboot. 2) Always remember that your collection defines you as a collector. So try to imagine what characters you think you want being displayed. Remove the ones that do not work for you, and stick with the ones that do. And never worry about having 3P, as long as it helps you fill in those gaps. This is all I can recommend. Because for me, I am going "cartoon accurate" just because there is no guarantee that the next figure I want will be in-continuity. I hope this helps.
They haven't yet, the should all ship when my retailer gets 1 and 2 in. A lot of people have been posting their thoughts in the Toyworld Constructor thread in the 3rd party forums. You can also see a lot of pictures in the 3p Appreciation thread. On the Dino's, that's up to you. Honestly I'd just skip scotia all together. He's hard to find and he was the first Dino put out by Fanstoys quite some time ago, so he is alittle small and dated looking next to the others. As you said a spin off company from Fanstoys named perfect fusion is putting out he's replacement (atleast that's what he is to me). If I was limited on what I could buy, I'd probably try to pick up sever, especially if he goes on sale again for $150. Stomp was just released so he will be available for awhile and soar is about to get a reissue so you shouldnt have problems finding him for a bit. I think the Dino's are awesome, but like basically any of these toys, both official and 3p, they have little things you can pick at if you really want to. If you can stand the wait, I hear these guys go on sale on Black Friday. Car bots, I'd have to say my favorite is Wheeljack. He is also about to get reissued so I'd say pick him up if you can. The Datsuns are cool and so is sideswipe (just done get the KO), bumblebee is probably my least favorite but he is allegedly the TRU release so you might wait on him. I don't have any of the S2 or repaints of the carbots. Donno if it will help you out or not, but here are my purchases over the last 6 months since I've started collecting. (Don't judge me, I'm only alittle addicted)
Also if you wanna see figures in their best light, check out Sixo's Facebook and blog. https://m.facebook.com/sixotransformers/ Here are some of my favorites I had on my phone.
Good luck with your collection. See if you can keep it simple, lol. It may help if you're single or have a really cool wife or girlfriend. Here's some of my two cents. Dinobots: Fanstoys. For Grimlock, you can go Fanstoys or KO Grimlock. Cars: Official. I don't have any KOs to compare. Seekers: Good luck in eBay. Starscream and Thundercracker should be manageable for under $140. SkyWarp will be expensive. BBQ on TF-direct may be a good option when they are out. Listening to reviews help. Soundwave: Good luck finding it for cheap. Soundblaster may be a good version since he is a reincarnated Soundwave. Takara. KO cassettes are actually good quality. Megatron: XTransbots Appolyon. Has QC issues. Maketoys is also making a new version. Insecticons: Fans Toys or Bad Cube Reflector: Fans Toys, Make Toys or KFC There are also some reviewers you can follow on YouTube: Bobby Skullface, Peaugh, Paik4Life, Benscollectables, Vangelus, Kuma Style, Optibotimus, John Garringher, etc... Others have you covered.
Haha! Thanks. I appreciate it. The price info is very helpful. Think I'm going to grab some dinos. Helpful to know that Soar is being reissued and that Stomp is newer from a priority perspective. I have to get Sideswipe and Ultra Magnus too. They were some of my favorites.
Thanks. Yeah, I've taken it on the chin on the Seekers, but have found good values on other items, so I feel like it balances out. I did nab a TRU Starscream on eBay recently and that saved me about $60. I'm just going to wait on Skywarp. Really like Skullface. He's been really helpful for me. This forum is great too. Lot of good info from you all.
Cybertron Con 2013 Masterpiece Grimlock Exclusive - Transformers 2010 - 2015 Transformers Exclusives Look into that.
Thanks. I've had a heck of a time trying to decipher all the MP-08 releases. Is this different from the original or is it the same thing just reissued in special packaging?
Sam's sale thread I'm just gonna point out this sale thread, beacuse this member is outstanding, and there are some decent prices here (222 usd for a hasbro mp soundwave and cassettes plus ko mp ratbat). He's located in ireland, and i don't know whether his prices are inclusive of shipping, but he mentions being willing to bargain (likely if you're buying multiples) near the bottom.
zgbsn721, thanks for the sweet pics. Sixo is a stellar photographer. If you guys didn't see the Devastator pics a page or two back, they are stunning.
I would recommend Big Bad Toy Store. That's where I have purchased all of my Masterpiece figures. I've gotten some great deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, though, you run the risk of current figures being out of stock by then. Probably going to have to go elsewhere for Thundercracker, the only figure I'm missing.
