So I found a small problem with the Combiner Wars and Generations lines

So after looking at the line up for Combiner wars, I found a major flaw in my team line up so I did a head count. What I found absolutely shocked me.

From 2010 to the first few waves of Titans Return. Hasbro has released 72 Autobot deluxe and Voyager Figures but only 50 Decepticons. This became evident to me after I saw that during Combiner Wars, there were 6 Autobot Combiners and only 3 Decepticon Combiners (only 2 of which are actual Combiners). I was even more surprised when I noticed that most of the Combiner Wars lines were Autobots that DIDNT EVEN BELONG TO A COMBINER TEAM and were placed in as line supplements.

Did anyone else notice this discrepancy? And what are your thoughts on it all.

This horse died a long time ago.

It's the same with every line, and not news. RID only had 1 Decepticon figure for an entire year. This has been the case for a long, long time.
Autobots sell better, thats 100% what it is.

HasTak has had a huge Autobot bias since literally 1984. Just look at the numbers there. We might not like it, I know I don't, but Hasbro is a massive corporation whose bottom line will always be, without exception, maximizing profits. The simple fact is that the "good guys" are just more appealing to children than the "bad guys", and therefore producing more of them makes perfect sense, because that way there will be more profit.

For me, the issue has been already solved.

    1) Cut my combiners down to 4: UWSuperion, CW Bruticus, UW Defensor, UW Menasor.

    2) Next purchases will be: UW Grand Galvatron, CW Victorion, UW Bruticus (at which point I sell CW version), UW Computron, CW/UWLiokaiser

8 combiners when all is said and done.

CW Cyclonus, UW Grand Scourge, CW Sky Lynx, CW Battle Core Prime as spare torsos.

The 84/85 Autobot limbs and Prime have already been replaced with their Classics versions so no longer a part of my CW line.

    Factions remain even-Steven.

Be happy Hasbro still graces us with Cons from time to time.

They started to balance it out in the upcoming Titans Return well the 2016 part at least because the 2017 part has the first wave of deluxe contains 3 Autobots to 1 decepticon.

There's always more Autobots as far as I know. But as a Masterpiece collector, I'd say Generations Cons are doing okay.

I was shocked we're getting a second Megatron so soon after the CW Leader Class, but two CW and two TR Optimus? I didn't even think twice.

This. Hasbro pretty much took all the Takara carformers in 84 and said they where good guys and the remaining molds where bad guys.

Go count the season one Autobots and Decepticons some time. Most of the Cons are cassettes!

I own a lot of Hastak product in my CHUG collection, but I have to say, and this is just me speaking for my own collection, thank goodness for 3P for me. I love my official figures. But I also love the others too. My combiners are strictly 3P though. When all is said and done, I will own 8 Decepticon combiners, and 4 Autobot combiners, having 12 unique sets. I do wish main line was more balanced out, but it is what it is. I'm happy with the way I've made my collection.

Check out the link to my collection in my signature and you'll see what I mean. There's a lot of figures that I own that haven't been photographed yet since I last updated these, but you'll get the gist. =)

From the title I thought it was going to be a QC problem that is only emerging now, like brittle plastic. Thankfully it's not.

Hasbro have always released more Autobots, which makes sense from a business angle. Fub pub thankfully picked up the slack somewhat with plenty of Decepticons, but thats not exactly an inexpensive option.

There is only one line I can think of where 'cons outnumbered 'bots: Power Core Combiners. So there is that.
I am just thankful the assortments aren't similar to what Mattel typically puts out for Batman toys (5 versions of Batman, and maybe 1 villain). So it could be worse.

Could be worse. NuRID had only Steeljaw in their Warrior size class for an almost year, if you don't count a quickchanger Underbite.

But they couldn't stop with BB and OP repaints that weren't in the show.

Generations ain't that bad in this regard. You can skip some Autobots. But how do you skip and balance in line with only ONE Decepticon available?

I'm making it even with 3rd parties too

Autobot - UW Superion, CW Defensor, 3rd Party Toyworld Throttleboss, 3rd Party Quantron

Decepticon - G1 Predaking, CW Menasor, UW BRuticus, 3rd PArty Maketoys Giant (getting him in October after NYCC)

I didn't get any of the Masquarade autobot waves and don't plan on it and I hate victorion

72/50 doesn't sound like a huge discrepancy, at least in comparison to the robots in disguise line's distribution of Autobots and Decepticons

Early G1 was worse. Good guys sell better has been a thing since way back.
    -1984 line 18 Autobots v 10 Decepticons
-1985 line 43 Autobots (49 if you count mail aways) v 29 Decpticons
-1986 line 39 Autobots (43 with mail aways) v 33 Decepticons (36 if you count mail ins)

The usual paradigm is around 3 Autobots vs 2 Decpticons for most modern retail lines. Before RiD 2015 that is. CW highlights it a bit more due to the need for teams being relased at once. But a full known accounting, minus G2 recolours is:

    Autobots:
-2 new combiners made up of 84-86 characters
    -the 3 scramble city teams
    -Victorion
    -Wreckage

    For a total of 7

    Decpticons:
    -86 scramble city teams
    -Devastator
    -Lio kaiser
    -Galvatronus/Grand Galvatron
    -Thunder Mayhem
    -Predacus

    Total of 7

    Yes that counts club/con ones.

I was going to point that out. Yeah, if you want to know why Autobots outnumber Cons, just open up an old catalog.

So I was curious about how many Transformers were on my Classics/CHUG shelf. Not including the Maximals & Predacons, but counting each combiner as one and not counting their limbs plus also including all the Fun Pub repaints from Prime molds like Cannonball & Megaplex since their technically G1 characters. I found I have a total of 74 Autobots and 48 Decepticons!
