Like the Best Ultra Magnus Wreckers thread, I too have a similar question. Starting from scratch after a long absense I'm putting together a collection of "teams". So, far I have a Wreckers section, original Ark crew, and now am putting together a Lost Light crew in CHUG size.

    So far I have:
    Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus
Make Toys Rear End for Tailgate
Reveal the Shield with the Hurricane additions for Cyclonus
    Make Toys Cogwheel for Gears
    Legends Swerve
    Generations Skids
    Legends Brainstorm

I am looking to add Rodimus. Right now I have a stand in Reveal the Shield Rodimus that I got with Cyclonus but would like a better stand in. Any suggestions? I would also like to add a Huffer and Pipes. I have Krank and Stax, but they're out of scale any other suggestions for them?

    Thanks All!

Cloud Rodimus is an alright repaint of Generations Springer, but there really aren't many good Rodimii out there sadly. The Transformers Animated one was pretty good if I remember correctly.

I don't think there's been a "proper" Rodimus, yet. I've seen plenty of well done customs, though, over the years. Others have been using Takara's Cloud Rodimus (Generations Springer redeco), but I think it's prohibitively expensive to pick up right now. Otherwise, the best thing to do is wait and see if a new iteration comes out in Titans Return.

In terms of Huffer and Pipes (I assume you meant Pipes), you could go with the CW Legends, though they really don't bear much resemblance to their original incarnations. I think your best bet for maintaining the scale would be iGear's Rager (Huffer) and Tubes (Pipes). Just like the CW Legends, the latter is just a recolour of the former, but at least Rager looks like Huffer to begin with. I'm not sure what the pricing on these guys is though, as it's been 3-4 years since they came out.

Cloud Rodimus is expensive, but it's been pretty extensively painted to approximate MtMtE Rodimus' colourscheme. Even though the mold wasn't made as Rodimus, it's ironically the best Classics-style Rodimus toy out there by far and certainly the best option for a Lost Light shelf until such a time as a proper IDW-style toy is released.

Here's how mine's looking at the moment:

Cloud Rodimus is awesome, but I sold mine :(

Currently using Classics Rodimus with the Fansproject upgrade, but I expect once my pre-order for MP roddy arrives he'll be making his way onto my LL shelf.

Why do you need another Tailgate?

Anyhoo, cost doesn't seem to be a huge issue, and Cloud Rodimus actually makes a shockingly good IDW Rodimus. Just forget about the helicopter mode.

Like everyone else has said, Cloud Rodimus is probably the best choice, but he's not great in the role unfortunately. Great figure, just not a great MTMTE Rodimus.

just to offer a difference of opinion...especially as someone that doesn't own a cloud rodimus....may i suggest cybertron excellion as a good stand in? he's a tall deluxe which i think puts him at a decent height. for me he's a good stand in until hasbro puts one out or that 3p company who's name escapes me at the moment finally releases that teased IDW rodimus.

please excuse the crap cell phone camera...

Cloud Rodimus is prohibitively expensive. I wish I could acquire one but it´s very hard.

Cloud Rodimus is your first good choice, Animated Rodimus is your second good choice, and I've seen people use Titanium Rodimus to good effect. Excellion looks pretty cool too, actually.

Now, hear me out: I use Energon Rodimus. I can't explain why, but something about his color scheme and shoulders really evokes IDW to me, and even though he's a little short I keep him front and center in my Lost Light display so the difference isn't too jarring, and he's a little bigger than a lot of later Deluxes anyway so that helps. Also, I only paid $5 for him so that helps. :p  If I didn't have Energon Rodimus, I'd probably have to go with Animated Rodimus or Excellion myself since I don't feel like paying that much for Cloud Rodimus.

Yeah, both he and his mold-mate Inferno are Lost Lighters, I just don't own the latter.

Would love to get a cloud Rodimus but yeah, just a bit too much for my blood. Looks like I may be looking at Animated Rodimus or Excellion. Definitely need a new Rodimus soon. I'd take an OS KO Animated one as well. That could work.

Since TR and the movie anniversary is coming up, you can hope that Hasbro will make a new Rodimus for that line. Although that could be by next year at the earliest.

If you don't want to spend a bunch of money on a Cloud Rodimus, Animated Rodimus is a great substitute. The body and alt mode match his IDW look amazingly well. Unfortunately, you'll have to do something about his head. I made a custom head out of the existing head and Construct-Bots Starscream, but there are a couple of options available on Shapeways. SteamShield recently posted a freaking spot on IDW head you can purchase.

Or you could just wait for Hasbro to get off their ass and make a proper Rodimus figure. They have to make one eventually...right? Fingers crossed for Titans Returns!

I was thinking a moderate remold of Animated Rodimus (not unlike what Takara did for Blackarachnia, Nightbird, and so on) would be pretty ideal too, short of an all-new MTMTimus mold, that is.

I'll echo what other have said.

There's no perfect IDW Rodimus. Maybe Hasbro will make one, or you'll have to wait for a 3rd party company: sxs is going to make one and perhaps MMC will as well.

From the available figures the Cloud Rodimus seems the best option, but it is rather expensive.

Animated is a very good Rodimus (perhaps the best official version).

But Cybertron Excellion (or even better, the TT version which had a red chest) is also a very good Rodimus. Especially with a little customising: a red chest and yellow spoilerwings (or you can swap those with those from Cybertron Hot Shot).

If you happen to have the Cloud Rodimus, I strongly suggest picking up the spoiler for him from shapeways. It really doesn't match the painted yellow on the figure, but it's not that noticeable on the shelf.

Also, since I hate the guns he comes with, I've been hunting for an appropriate gun for him. I ran across this, and it really looks good in hand!!! I was worried they'd be small (they were designed for classics Rod), but they're the perfect pistol size for Cloud Rodimus. They also combine into Rodimus' photon Eliminator, if that's your thing. I'm a dual wield sorta guy.

Just be forewarned, I got the black, and when you cut the gun pieces off, it reveals white plastic at the cut points. Not a big deal, honestly.....

Now, if only someone'd make a way for us to get his forearm pipes, he'd be almost perfect.

Either way, now that MMC revealed their MTMTE Rodimus, we'll all get the figure we've been waiting for. Maybe. If you're ok with 3rd party.... I, for one, can't wait for the test shot of this dude!!!!!
