Anyone else having QC issues with the last 2 CW waves? The first 4 waves were solid but they seem to be getting worse with all the mold reuse. My Vortex had issues with one of his legs popping off. Wheeljack's spoiler comes off easily. Trailbreaker can't seem to fit together solidly and one of his wheel's keeps popping off. How worse is it going to get with G2 versions and new box sets coming out? They really need to retire these molds. I've enjoyed the line and don't mind the reuse of the molds if they can keep the QC up but it seems like they can't.
Got the Wheeljack problem, also his chest wont fit into the hood in car mode tightly. Glad these toys are basically just for combination and I have a lot of different options for those characters.
My Vortex had some mold flash on one of his ball joints (or rather the counterpart on the leg), which caused the leg to pop off a lot. I craped off the mold flash with a knife, and the leg fits a lot more securely now.
Had the same leg problem, but with Blades from Wave 3. Used super glue after trying floor polish and having it fail on me. Pretty sure it was some kind of mold degradation in the hip because the opposite hip had a noticeable pit in it when the hip I was having trouble with did not. Those weird dried bits of super glue give the socket enough friction to grip to the ball joint. It worked so well that the good joint would come off more times than the repaired joint with a bit of rough play. Best of all, not only is it barely noticeable, but when it is it isn't even that bad looking. It helps that Blade's upper legs are white to begin with. Don't know what it will do to Vortex.
Aside from paint-related QC, the only issue I have had was where the port in Vortex's foot for the combiner hand/foot was a little warped. I ended up cracking it when I put the post in. I am still looking for a replacement that isn't super-expensive.
My AplhaBravo was wave 1 and he has the same hip issue as some have had with their Blades and Vortex, really dont know how to fix it,unless I get another AB,which is super hard to come by now. I had a lot of loose ball joints on Wave3,nothing a lil future couldnt fix. Ive been worried about the mold degradation as well with the reuse of these. Im hoping my G2 Superion wont be bad but after seeing some reviews from those who go him early,I am worried.
I haven't noticed any issues with any of my Combaticons, even my Brawl's waist tabs together better than most peoples' by the sound of it.
I just opened my Vortex I got the other day and he seems fine. He's actually a little bit better because his joints are tighter than my Alpha Bravo or Blades who had some floppy joints. Shame about Trailbreaker though because he was the only one from that wave I had my eyes on.
I keep reading about Brawl's crappy waist, but mine seems just fine. We must have both got lucky there. I did have to scrape a little excess plastic off him and Vortex to get their alt modes together.
No issues at all with my Combaticons (except for Brawl's waist but that's a terrible design flaw rather than a QC issue).
I hadn't heard about the alpha bravo issue before. I tried scrapping off the mold flash but that didn't help, I'll have to try future. I must have been lucky previously because I haven't had issues with stuff popping off before now.
I had no issues with any of the comabticons, but my Wheeljack and Trailbreaker both seemed much more difficult to properly line up and tab into place in alt mode. They eventually did, but the initial transformation just seemed off. I really don't care in this instance, but I am worried about the molds for Victorion. I know she's quite controversial but I love the character, and am really looking forward to the figure.
I don't like Ironhide and Sunstreaker's plastic at all. Those two in hand feel much worse than, say, Offroad and Breakdown. Really cheap feeling.
Another issue I found and as Kirby0189 and some others on the board have mentioned is on AB,Blades and Vortex theres a stress mark where the HFG plugs into for limb mode. I have it on my AB and Blades but I dont have Vortex. I heard sanding down the HFG peg will make it looser so its not a tight fit in that area and not stress the plastic. Whats the best way to sand it down?
Come to think of it, the only ones I've really had much of an issue with are a couple Stunticons. Off Road just does not stay tabbed together in arm-mode, the slightest movement and the forearm just separates and Dead End's rear end never seems to want to tab together either, even though Wildrider is completely fine.
OK, so if we're talking about more than the last 2 waves: -Air Raid's right elbow loves popping off. Excess plastic seems to be the cause. -The usual Blackjack problem. -Menasor's shoulder assembly untabbing itself like usual. -The end of Breakdown's car mode doesn't like to stay tabbed. -Offroad's arms in arm mode just love to move out of place (though it's probably more of a design flaw since there don't seem to be any holes for the tabs like there are on First Aid). -Initially, First Aid's legs had trouble tabbing into his body in ambulance mode. After removing some plastic, he works perfectly. -The hinge for Streetwise's hood assembly is too tight to fold back for arm or leg mode, leaving it pointing upward. -Rook's right hand can't seem to hold anything. Any 5mm post will just fall right out. -The Vortex issue I mentioned before. If you don't remember it, the hole for the HFG was a little warped and it cracked when I plugged it in. -Something I forgot to mention in the last post: Brawl's elbow transformation initially didn't tab in all the way. After a bit of force, it works like a charm now. And I actually got lucky with the waist.
