I don't know why but with the new Leader class Optimus Prime coming out that features a headmaster (titan master), I am not really sure how to process that. It is almost like coming to grips to Prime dying or something. Granted I might get the new toy but I am not sure how about Prime being some headmaster. Powermaster I can get but headmaster... I don't know. Anyone else feel the same?

i always thought powermaster optimus prime, should've also been a targetmaster and a headmaster at the same time.

You could also, especially for the two leaders we've seen, imagine that the little Optimus-colored guy is Prime himself, transforming to merge with a massive, Metroplex-style body.

[IMG] at some point, the original G1 powermaster prime was supposed to be also a headmaster...

It's no stranger than him being a Combiner, or whatever the inevitable third Prime Wars subline gimmick ends up being that necessitates him getting a new toy. It's a fun gimmick which makes for a more interesting toy, and that's ultimately why I love it.

But then I guess I roll with gimmicks easier than others because I grew up with Armada, and living in a time where we don't have to trade gimmicks for articulation fills me with non-stop glee.

Knowing this, I have no problem with this new version of PMOP being a headmaster. That and I have no real affection for PMOP to begin with so I'm pretty loose as far as my expectations go for this new figure. From I've seen though, I'm very much liking it.

Im okay with headmaster prime, it comes across better for me to take it as it is, a head master prime with a robot mode based on the powermasters supermode, instead of a gimped powermaster prime

If you read the old Marvel comics, Optimus was kind of the first Headmaster of all of them, pre-dating the others by years. Like around issue #11 or 12 or so, we have Optimus' headless body with different heads getting attached and detached.

So no, no problem with it.

But about the original toy, it's kind of lucky they didn't make it a Headmaster, because my mind almost exploded from the sheer awesomeness of the toy we did get. If it had been a Headmaster as well, I might not have survived.

PMOP was already a Headmaster, the head just didn't transform.

Eh, if I can handle Galvatron and Blaster being headmasters I can handle Optimus being one too.

Yeah, he had Headmaster experience after the beginning of the Marvel Comics, if I'm not mistaken.
RID Sideswipe would be able to understand Prime's horrors.
While I'd prefer the Powermaster gimmick on the figure, the Headmaster doesn't really bother me. In fact, it makes the figure more unique from other OPs, and gives him his own unique ability. The base mode is what I'm really excited about. That will scale decently with the Dollar General figures.

Takara's prolly just going to call him ginrai (or god ginrai w/e) so I don't really see it as the optimus, but a optimus, much as Car Robots and Galaxy Force did with Fire Convoy and Galaxy Convoy.

So does Optimus Prime retain his personality with the headmaster? From what I understand, the Godmaster stuff implied he was just a mech for some human.

Honestly I can't handle either of our G1 characters being headmasters.

In Masterforce, Powermaster Prime was powered by a guy named Ginrai, and was basically Ginrai in a Transformer that looked like Optimus. The reason why the mecha looked like Optimus is unclear, but it's implied it was intended as a back up body for Optimus.
Ask God Ginrai on here about it, he knows more about Masterforce than anyone else I know.
As far as TR Prime, I would believe he's himself with a smaller unit as the head and central programming, or Apex/Ginrai is in full command, like IDW Magnus and Ambus' relationship.
    EDIT: Ginrai - Transformers Wiki

I feel this toy should have had a couple different Masters...Head/Power/Target, but I guess budget has a big say in all this...

Wasn't Hasbro asked why it wasn't a Powermaster and they said they didn't want to confuse people since all the others have been heads? But what is the point then? ...

They call them Titanmasters to have all the Masters fit all under 1 umbrella, but then only really make headmasters? Doesn't make sense to me. Hopefully they sell some other different Masters at a different pricepoint to "Power Up" the figure.

Super Ginrai, if they keep the same general deco as Hasbro's version. God Ginrai has more extra stuff on him. Ginrai was basically the normal Optimus body, Super Ginrai was the Powermaster upgrade body made with the trailer, and God Ginrai was the Powermaster upgrade body with added armor made from a second trailer.

I generally find the whole "master" concepts to be irritating, as it's another little guy I have to keep track of because it's(usually) an integral body part.

Do you often lose accessories? Are you not a grown person?
