    Yikes!

I got some items out of storage the other day, only to find that poor old Megabolt isn't doing too well with the gold!

Not the worst case I've had - that's still, and probably always will be G2 Electro!

I took my Choro Q Robo Megatron out last week to find he had turned from gray to beige without ever seeing a bit of sunlight. Transformed him and he just fell apart.

Time to find the black version.

Megabolt was a known sufferer. I live in fear of some of my figures disintegrating because of GPS.

I had one of those way back - had no idea they were affected!

I actually picked him up in 2002, not even knowing of GPS. And surprisingly, he was fine. Several years later, however, he looked like a robot torso trying to fight his way out of quicksand.

As for Megabolt, I knew he had issues (the little connecting parts for the wrist gauntlets snapped within an hour of opening back at the time), but had no idea it was this prevalant for such a late-release item!

    *breathes a sigh of relief*
megabolt being from 2002 was from back before hasbro fixed the issue, roughly in 2007

the thread title spooked me a little, i thought something new was afflicted.

My black version broke pretty quickly out of box without any strain put on him. I think it may just be a fragile mold.

It's also worth pointing out that's the Kaybee exclusive version of Megabolt. The original has no gold plastic and should be fine.

I have two Electros, one still MISP and one loose in truck mode. The loose one is still intact, but I know that he will never be able to be transformed into robot mode, but that's fine as he's displayed with the other three Laser rods in truck mode as well.

True Dat. I have the BW Returns Megahead and he's perfect.

Always wanted a Black Zarak. I *almost* bought one in 2001 - and at that point, I had no idea what GPS even was, so I dodged a very expensive bullet there.

Yes! I've seen two of these die in person. I think every TF fan should have the experience of crushing a Randy boar. Ooh-err...

This got me thinking, has any 3rd party company taken the parts that suffer and tried to make a mold out of them so they can make new parts that don't suffer?
