Should Devastator have been done in Combiner Wars Style?

?

Do you wish we'd gotten Devastator in the style of the other Combiner Wars Figures?

Something that I've been thinking about while browsing the Combiner Wars Appreciation Thread. There are some people who feel Devastator, as we have him now, is much too big to scale well with the other Combiner Wars figures and they plan to get a third party figure that will size up better.

But... would people have preferred if, instead of getting the titanic green giant that we got, Hasbro had made a Combiner Wars Devastator in the style of the Aerialbots, the Stunticons, so on?

While I love my giant Devastator and have him towering over my cabinet full of transformers, part of me would have liked to see how they would have done him in-line. I personally imagine he'd be something like this:

    Voyager Figure:

Long Haul- Forms the torso of Devastator. comes with two guns that form Devastator's main weapon

    Deluxe Figures:

Scrapper- Rook remold. the mold would actually be in reverse in vehicle mode, with Rook's rear end now scrapper's front.

    Bonecrusher- New mold.

    Mixmaster- Offroad/First Aid remold

Scavanger- Remold of Bonecrusher (so they basically share the same mold but with different tops)

    Legend Figure

Hook- New Mold, forms chest armor.

Be interesting in what you guys think. Like what we got? Wish we'd gotten something different? Have a better idea than mine? Remember that if you come up with suggestions you need to be realistic; while it would be nice if all of these were new molds Hasbro would never do that.

EDIT: This is about Combiner Wars Style. Not downsizing the current Devastator, not coming up with a new way to engineer it. The choices are "It Stay As Is", "It Becomes A Voyager, 4 Deluxes and a Legend", or "I'll just go 3rd Party"

No. They should have been the same size as the rest of the line but the 1 voyager 4 deluxe 1 legend layout would be stupid. Ideally it should be five deluxes and a slightly larger than deluxe Long Haul.

If he had been done in a CW compatible style, I would have wanted an Energon homage.

when you say same size you mean each robot as a deluxe or the total combiner being the same size as CW combiners? a devy that small would've made for some tiny constructicons...

All the Constructicons need to be the same size. But deluxe class instead of voyager. Then they would've scaled better with the CW gestalts.

The CW Constructicons themselves are too embarrassingly hollow to be voyager class bots.

I think deluxe Constructicons resulting in a taller than average CW gestalt would very much be acceptable. The size difference wouldn't be as exaggerated as it currently is now.

    Roughly each deluxe size.

MT Devastator is a good reference. Giant is slightly shorter than CW combiners but the individual bots are decently sized deluxish figures.

I'm just very thankful we didn't get IDW Prostator.

I also love their size. :)

While I think having a Devastator more in the style of the other Combiner Wars combiners is a really neat idea, I'm actually really happy with how the CW Devastator we got turned out. The huge size of the toy doesn't bother me really.

I would've preferred it to be around the same size as the other gestalts, but I'm glad Devy kept his traditional combination scheme. It's just so integral to his identity as a toy and as a character.

My only hope is some enterprising company KO's the HasTak Devastator into deluxe scale bots.

I wouldn't mind the combined Devastator being a bit taller, I just don't like the Constructicons individually sizing up like Dinobots compared to the other CW deluxes.

But definitely no to the Scramble City format... that's just dumb for Devastator.

As Ive said in other threads, while I would have preferred to see it scaled in a similar manner as the other, it doesnt make me like the one we got any less.

    So, in conclusion:

*stares at your Peter Griffin gif* Oh look, my response when you talk about Blast-Off.

    Kidding! Kidding!

I purely brought this up because of other people, in other threads, hating huge Devastator and was curious what others thought. Obviously people do care as they are talking about it here and elsewhere.

No, Devastator should not have been done in Combiner Wars Style.

Superion, Menasor, Bruticus, and Defensor should have been done in Titan Devastator style.

No, I think the size and configuration of Titan Devastator is about right. The execution, not so much. I'd prefer if the figures were less hollow, but Devastator does not fit in with the Scramble City configuration at all, which is what the Combiner Wars stuff is effectively an update of.

I would have liked him to be the same size as the other combiners, even if he didn't use the same scramble system.

Hopefully a KO will downsize him.
