Should Devastator have been done in Combiner Wars Style?

?

Do you wish we'd gotten Devastator in the style of the other Combiner Wars Figures?

Should had been the same size as the other Combiner Wars combiners with all 6 figures being deluxes, but without the universal CW ports. Devastator was never Scramble City.

I think instead of wishing HasTak Devy should've been this or that, those wanting better scaled Constructicons/Devastator should push an unscrupulous 3P to knock him off. Best remote chance of getting the one we want.

I like him as he is...

But if they also released one scaled down to match Superion/Menasor/Defensor/Bruticus I'd buy that as well.

Honestly, the only way I could have been happier with CW Devi is if they gave him painted wheels, individual weapons, and elbows on Scrapper and Fat Haul....in other words, the Takara version. But there's already two of him in the house (one for each kid) and I don't have room for another.

Does anyone in this franchise actually know what scale is?

I love the giant Devestator and the individual bots. They scale nicely with the likes of the G1 cars same with the Leader Seekers.

Most fans seem to want the robots to scale with each other like the badly animated G1 cartoon. Deluxe cars and deluxe jets look bloody stupid.

I've waited years for a set of Stunticons that scale with G1 Prowl and Fansproject delivered. Cw Menasor is a mess.

Ironically the Energon scale of scout limbs and deluxe torso probably would have suited what I prefer in scale had Motormaster been just a cab.

Anyway I'm delighted with Devestator overpriced as he is. I would have preferred the Takara version for obvious reasons but I'm not willing to pay more than I did which was already too much.

They pretty much nailed him perfectly (except a few things) I love the size because he fits right in with Master Piece.

In a subline that doesn't work with MP, he shouldn't have been branded Combiner Wars then. It's not a war when you have a giant on one force making things absurdly one-sided :lol

I tend to agree with this sentiment. I just don't have the space to display these figures. Plus, it would have dropped his retail price by about 30%.

People talk about how the Constructicons are too big compared to Deluxes but for me I always envisioned the Constructicons to tower over everyone else... and Devastator is the combiner to end all combiners. Bots combine merely to try and take on the Cons as a unit... but when they combine you need an army to take him down.

Wasn't he, canonically, the first combiner even in G1? That's hardly a "combiner to end all combiners". More like a proof-of-concept or a prototype. More and more outdated with every new combiner created...

Yeah I passed on devi cos he is just to big, I wouldn't want him scramble style just the same hight as the other cw combiners. It's why I am using tfc herc, he is about the closest in size and style. Of course he has his flaws to but then what doesn't.

So you're asking if, instead of the perfectly sized and styled Devastator they gave us, I would have rather had something styled like the CW figures...?

    AhahahahahahahahahahaNO.

With how easily Rumble & Frenzy dismantled him in the movie, LOL I doubt it.

I really would buy the Constructions if they were all deluxe size...giving us a combiner that's the same size as the rest of the gestalts.

I understand the difficulties of size accuracy but if its roughly there I'm satisfied. For example, Omega Supreme is not Titan Class but similar to size with a regular combiner - maybe bigger.

I may still buy the Hasbro Devastator if its heavily discounted to mess with my kids.

So we are supposed to choose between something nobody ever asked for, the oversized Devy Has/Tak made or an existing 3rd party one :inquisiti
Screw this, i want a CW Superion-sized Devestator consisting out of 6 Deluxe class Constructicons at retail, deal with it :lol

Until some lowlife company steals the design and KO's the set to be downsized, this 'disagreement' will probably be one that never goes away.
Some like the Constructicons as they are (like myself), while others will always want something to better suit their personal tastes.
Judging by the poll though, 90 in favor versus 20 against is a pretty telling sign that HasTak did it right.
Personally, I'd have been disappointed if it Devastator wasn't as large as he is. Even as a kid in the G1 era I thought he should be massive compared to the others. Now, as an adult, I have the Devastator I always wanted. To me, he does fit in with CW stuff, but also with the Masterpiece line. Win/Win.

Also, so what if he throws off the balance of the 'war'. I figured the Decepticons would always have the advantage anyway.

I agree, but I don't think they could label him MP either because he's not quite up to par with the MP line. He's pretty close though.

Would you buy a smaller and more CW standardized size Devastator?

I would but that just adds more Devy in my collection. Keep the large one.

Would you buy a CW Devastator sized Menasor, Defensor, Bruticus and Superion?

    I would.

    Depends.

They would have to re-engineer the alt modes to hide even more robot kibble (see robot feet - offroad/aerialbots). At the very least give everyone more details that upsizing brings and not just a xerox copy upscale.

On second thought... No, since I would have to rebuy all the eventual PE upgrades just to fix them like regular CW.
