As life moves on, I find that I'm looking for the more obscure and unique toys rather than the normal paint schemes we have seen before. I wanted to find a Botcon Pirate Scorponok to be my G1 stand in but, as the price is way too high, I went with the Black Zarak repaint and I think I kind of prefer it over the original colours. The same goes for my G2 MP Sideswipe. I also just bought a Shattered Glass Hearts of Steel Optimus and an iGear Leader of Shark Sharkticon. I know there must be a good market for this kind of thing cause it keeps getting made so I'm just curious what other peope think about the unique colours and redeco's we have got, as well as what other stuff I should be on the look out for.
If I could get black repaints of everything, I would. The current "new" look I'm loving is what MMC did with Jaegertron and Cynicus. The black with neon green look is totally bitchin IMO.
Yeah I have seen those two. I've also seen the black version of Hexatron on ebay for dirt cheap compared to the original. I'm assuming they are knock offs but still. I also just remembered my totally unique BW Scorponok! Found him at a collector's store for a measly $20 Canadian except he was missing one of the missiles. After about a week of searching eBay, I found pretty much the holy grail to complete him: a missile from the Botcon 1999 exclusive Sandstorm. I think he looks even better with the one odd missile.
Oh the Seeker mold. I really wish we got an update to the G1.5 Predators and Turbomasters. That would be something to see
Hey let's keep the thread alive with some pictures: G2 MP Sideswipe BW and Cybertron Sky Shadows BW and Timelines Depth Charges The Dread Pirate Blackmane (aka GO! Prime) RID Cryotek
I could not agree more with this thread. I've missed creative and unique decoes for a while now. I guess colourful and interesting aren't 'realistic' enough?
I was honestly looking for some other people who want the weird to get some advice of other figures to look for. If you got some, share some pics. Once they get here, I will be throwing up some pictures of Train Prime and Sharkticon Leader.
Ah, cool, I've got loads of oddly colored figures I've been waiting to post pictures of. In the right place at least.
Those are freaking cool. I would love to see those colours in the Classics and Generations molds. Nothing against G1, but I like my toys to be slightly posable at least.
If your looking for weird colors find TFCC Circuit or Shattered Glass Thundercracker, now those are weird colors yet look so right on the shelf.
I love weird decoes! When I first started collecting, I would always go for whatever is more show accurate when it came to Classics-style toys, but now not so much. Take the Classics Megatron mold: Sure, United's version is show accurate but ultimately the Classics and Henkei are more visually appealing. I really hope one day that Toys R Us G1 Megatron sees the light of day...
